One thing that has really erked me with Madden the last 5 years or so is how everyone wears the same chin strap in the game. I don't see how something that small never gets fixed every year. Not all players wear the same chin strap style............Geesh, step up EA

If I can think of this, someone that is incharge of player looks must be asleep at the wheel.

I think the franchise mode has gotten worse over the years. You cant even train your players like you did on the old ones. Half the fun to me used to be working out your players in the off season and actually playing a part in there progression. Before the draft they used to let you do drills with prospects to see if they were any good which was also fun. Another thing that really bothers me is when you resign players money is always the main factor. I know its like this in real life but I had Romo on my team and he was like 39 and still starting and he refused to resign with me. He had like five superbowls and already made tons of cash no way he wouldnt have resigned in real life. It is also annoying when say your running back runs for 2000 yards and he does not increase just because his potential is an B or C. The on field production should really count for alot more. I know its just a game and will never be prefect but when the game takes a step back it annoys me. The gameplay is also very weak at times for instance two players hit the ballcarrier at same time and only one "locks up on ball carrier" the other defender just falls on ground and the ball carrier breaks the tackle and houses it. Its just not realistic its two on one and he just made D-Ware and Ratliff miss. They also need to adjust the stats in franchise for the length of your game. If you play a regular five minture game in franchise it makes it difficult to try and get more than one or two skill positions to the pro-bowl. Like someone in an earlier the commentary is horrible half the time they say something and it does not apply to the situation on the field. Anyways thats just my two cents.

just for kicks, the average ratings based on numerous critics. EA's highest rating was 91, the same year 2K Sports boasted a 92 rating, and also the last year competition existed. Ever since, EA never got above an 85. Go figure...

Tecmo Super Bowl remains the best football video game of all time. In terms of pure enjoyment and playability, Madden doesn't even come close. I wish they would make a game that fun for a current platform.

I agree, Tecmo for the Win!!!

Was that the last one before the new systems? PS3 and XBOX2?

Because I feel the game was at its best the last year it was on PS2, since then it's been all down hill.

Madden sucks. No innovation. Celebrations are the same from years ago. People who play this game regularly will notice. Chinstraps.. thought I was the only one to notice that. Cleats... celebrations are the same, tackles are pretty much all the same, dynasty mode is terrible - progression sucks, they took the ability to do drills away...

Anyone who says EA>2k is downright silly. Play the games before you talk; 2k5 is better than any Madden since 05. All of the 2k11 games pretty much blow EA out the way, NBA2K11 especially.

Anyone blaming the NFL and not EA on this is being silly. It takes two to tango; how is the NFL at fault and not EA?

I used to love EA, but after 5 years of spending $60 and then seeing basically no improvement... left me to stop buying it. I don't play online because it's so damn laggy and kids always cheat, so dynasty is usually my thing. Dynasty never has anything new in it, the game is incredibly boring. I can not WAIT until after 2013. I just hope that the NFL does not auction off player names again... competition breeds superior products.

And besides, Madden is no longer the elite football game EA Makes. NCAA is.

lol, when or before the 2013 deadline they'll just tack on another 3/5 year contract. Been there, done that. The only way they're going to lose that deal is with the anti-trust case, and I doubt they'll lose the case.

Just came across some interesting information. Apparently, underground websites are still producing the NFL 2K series using game editing software. The lastest in the series is NFL 2K12 which will run under the 2K All Pro Football 2K8 engine. It is my understanding that you need to have the 2K Sports APF 2K8 game and then upload the rosters using your memory card. It is also my understanding that there are still limitations that could not be worked out, which is understandable, but still interesting that some had made huge efforts to keep the series alive. Some vids for anyone interested.

Edit: click on the HD for much better video quality

Good effort but the player models look terrible imo.

Yes, from what I read, that's because the people that put it together where unable to change player meshes, such as face and hair. They could only modify skin tone, player attributes, size, and numbers. Still cool though.

Who did these ratings? Madden 06 was one of the best games made...07 was the only one better.

You can't blame EA for trying to get a monopoly. The real villain is the NFL for agreeing to giving EA the exclusive contract effectively killing competition in football gaming. Why'd they do it?
For the same reason behind everything they do:
