Oh, no. We might lose Marinelli?! What a nightmare.

Anybody who considers Bryan Broaddus an inside source needs their head examined.

More like the boring choice in Eberflus.

Boring doesn't have to mean bad.

I mean, let's be honest. The bar is set low on defense. He'd be hard pressed to field a worse defense than what we've seen here the last two years.

The real loss would be the nicknames. But maybe they can work something out like Rod is free to go if he'll leave the nicknames at Valley Ranch. Everybody's happy, no bridges are burned.

The TB owner is ridiculously cheap. I just don't seeing him paying all this money for a coaching staff when he is under the cap by tens of millions of dollars. If Marinelli replaces Frazier, the TB owner will have to pay Frazier for doing nothing for the next few years and Marinelli.

And, seriously, TB is a mess of a team. And the city ain't much to brag about in my opinion.

The Bucs are a mess, but Tampa the city runs circles around Dallas the city

He can stay in Dallas with a young and up and coming team with an owner that is not afraid to spend money. Or he can go to TB.......well or he can go to TB. Rod is a smart man.

With Romo's contract and our need to do something about what he is owed next season, he will be starting for the Cowboys at 60.

Marinelli has taken a cast of misfits and fielded a defense on a team that is 11-4 and has already won it's division, yet there is still a group of people (I call them the Clown Posse) that insists on laughing about Marinelli's nicknames for players and keep insisting that Hitchens was a bad draft pick.

It's amazing how much influence Broaddus end up having. Other local media and his own guys parrot what he says and then fans start parroting it. Something can end up all over the local media and message boards and often I'm fairly certain that it all originated with Broaddus.

It can be as simple as such and such player is having a terrible training camp. I first hear it from Broaddus, then his minions, then local sports talk radio, then the local paper, then the message boards; however, once the preseason games start and the camera are actually recording what happens the truth is often completely the opposite of what was reported while the cameras were not running.

These guys know anything with a little " fan interest or controversy" keeps them relevant. They like weather forecasters can be wrong most of the time and still keep their jobs :):)

So I guess your still lamenting the loss of Rob Ryan huh?

I could see Jerry making him the highest paid DC in the league after this year.

Seriously.

Like your thinking and certainly support JJ opening up the wallet. He has to be pleased that the D is much better than expected without any real dominating player/s

"David: Both Tony Romo and the Cowboys absolutely believe he can play another four or five seasons."

I'm afraid we are fooling ourselves if we really think this. I see more like 2-3 tops

Why? He's at his physical peak...or so I've been told :p

I feel the point to be taken away from the comment is that the team is committed to Tony Romo being the starter moving forward and doesn't plan to draft his replacement until he's done.

Both parties may hope the union lasts another 4-5 seasons, but are aware it could end much sooner.

Dallas' plan is to wait until Romo is done before going after a new signal caller.

That doesn't mean selecting a passer, be it early rounds or late rounds, is not on the Cowboys' draft menu.

It just isn't a priority.

The team passed on its highest rated player on the board, QB Johnny Manziel, in round one this year and twice in round three last year, QB Ryan Nassib, opting instead to go after other positions.

Dallas added three starters in those instances, RG Zack Martin this year, WR Terrance Williams and S J.J. Wilcox last year.

I think being patient usually works far more often than being impulsive when it comes to the draft.

Personally, I would rather see us try and develop a QB the way the Packers did with Rodgers. Draft him late in the 1st round and have him sit for as long as Romo can play efficiently.

I think that's where the teams that drafted QB's this season (outside of Oakland with Derek Carr) screwed up. Jacksonville started Bortles, Cleveland started Manziel and Minny started Bridgewater. I just don't think any of them were ready to start playing outside of Carr who has fantastic throwing mechanics and understands the ins-and-outs of NFL offenses and defenses due to his brother playing in the NFL.

I always put it this way...I've never seen a QB that became a bust and thought 'gee, he would have been a good QB had he started his rookie year.'

I think it should be a serious consideration in the upcoming draft, but you just can't force it. If there's not a QB worth taking, you just can't take the QB.

Not particularly. The 3-4 more so.

But I certainly won't lament the loss of a coordinator who has overseen the worst two year stretch defensively that I've ever seen with this team.

TB has Frazier at DC there and while the Lovie connection is made, they never make that statement. Marinelli is coming to have to take a demotion too.

I also wonder about this loyalty thing. Broaddus doesn't have an in with the coaches. That was obvious last draft when Marinelli and Kiffin's opinions blindsided him. I see a loyal person sticking with this team and finishing what he started. Maybe he is only loyal to one man but I doubt it.

Yeah, I think he is a loyal guy...not to one person in Lovie but overall to the situation and people that he bonds with. He has bonded with this team. I'd bet he thinks highly of Coach Garrett and would like to stay with Dallas.

I just don't see this happening. Why leave a budding team with a bright future that you've molded for another 'project'? He has plenty of loyalties here in Dallas with the likes of Kiffin and Garrett. I don't see Jerry not paying this guy to stay with what he's helped accomplish with this football team this season.

If and when Harbaugh is let go by SF, and if we lose Marinelli, I would go after the SF DC Vic Fangio.

I agree. Loyalty is a trait attribuetd to Marinnelli but why would it only apply to one man. Why wouldnt he feel a sens of loyalty to the crew he's riding with now, especially after the type of season they are having and the expectations everyone had about how bad the deefnse would be. They have responded to Marinellis challenge with an us against the world mentality - I dont know why the captain would abondon his crew after they have responded to his call and charged into the playoffs.
