Make Of It What You Will...

I'd be pretty pleased to see us take a quality QB in the first two rounds of the draft. I'm torn, though, b/c we need two CBs, and one of those has to come in the first two rounds, too.

Right now I could live with:

Round 1: CB, Chase Minnifield, Virginia
Round 2: QB, Nick Foles, Arizona or Ryan Lindley, San Diego St
Round 3: SS, Markelle Martin, Oklahoma St

Oh man if we get Markelle Martin our defense will sing. Second coming of Roy Williams except he can cover.

Any word on QB Russell Wilson? He looked great from the pocket this weekend.

I would be thrilled to have Minnifield. I'm also keeping a close eye on Casey Hayward and my dream Stephon Gilmore, but I think he might be out of range for us.

You'd be ok with this? :p:

Thanks for the information folks. It's a long ways off, obviously, but I'm going to be paying more attention to these threads this year and try and keep an eye on some of the folks you're all mentioning here.

I could definitely see Minnifield. Didn't his dad play for Cleveland in the 80s?

I'd go..
Round 1: C, Michael Brewster, Ohio State
Round 2: S, Markelle Martin, Oklahoma State
Round 3: WR, Joe Adams, Arkansas

I also like Janzen Jackson, S, McNeese State (formerly at Tennessee) and Melvin Ingram, DL, South Carolina as mid-round sleepers. I'm not sure which NFL position Ingram will play at 6'2", 279 lbs, but with his athleticism and versatility, I'm guessing Rob Ryan could find way to use him effectively.

If we do go QB relatively early I'd like

1. Cliff Harris CB Oregon
2. Robert Griffin QB Baylor
3. Aaron Henry FS Wisconsin

I think the Cowboys would have a strong interest in Tannehill. He just seems to fit the current profile of the Cowboys QB very well (e.g. Romo & McGee). The Cowboys value a QB who can "extend the play" and with his mobility Tannehill possesses that characteristic. Also, he's been playing for a former NFL coach in a pro style offense.

Nebraska vs Chattanooga you can take your pick. I know for a fact the Cowboys love Nebraska DE Jared Crick and CB Alfonzo Dennard but they would have to blow this season to stand a chance at landing either.

If the early season is any indication, Crick may be blowing his senior season. Little effort, and has constantly been pushed around by inferior offensive lineman. He had a decent stat line in the opener, but overall it was a bad game. Followed that up with a horrid game against Fresno.

I love Dennard, but I get the feeling that his height concerns will be an issue. He's barely 5'10, but he does make up for it as an explosive athlete. Partially tore his quad, which is why he's been for the last month plus and hasn't played yet this season.

Cliff Harris can't keep himself out of trouble. It is small, stupid stuff but he drags his team down with him. He isn't good enough to overlook his trouble.

Know also that he was electronically timed at 4.7 seconds in the 40 during a spring workout... hmmmm, you've got a 165 pounder who runs 4.7; nope, doesn't look like a worthy early pick to me...

In spite of having a great name...

Can't tell you how much I love this thread...

How about Minnifield, Judie, and Martin.....2 young, strong CB prospects and 1 young, strong S prospect.

Surprised no one has mentioned Weeden. He's overaged, but really talented and wouldn't need as much refinement as some of the others.
