I think I have finally figured this out. All the Cowboys need to do to make and/or keep the fans happy is the following.

1. Win every game by covering the point spreads no matter how big.

2. Hire only the best coaches and have them committed to this team with no desire to become a Head Coach or Coordinator somewhere else and still not a be a puppet to the GM somehow.

3. Draft Pro Bowl caliber players in every round and somehow manage to keep all of them despite future drafts where we acquire more Pro Bowl caliber players, Free Agency, and a salary cap.

4. If we somehow miss on a Pro Bowl draft pick, trade him to someone else for their Pro Bowl player who will play here for less money because when we fart little rainbows fly out of our bum.

5. Win every Super Bowl.

I am quite fond of saying "learn the game." I think I finally have. This is fun.

Don't forget that if a player went to a pro bowl, but fails to do so every year, he automatically sucks and should be cut with no idea on who can replace him.

Also, we need to draft a QB in the first round every year.

For me what makes me happy is seeing the team play hardnosed football and giving everything they have got. Winning is important to me and I think if a team is playing hardnosed football they will win more than they lose.

I can accept defeat if I feel the team gave it all they have it is hard to swallow defeat when you feel they have given up. Granted my view is old fashion but honestly I have seen this team over the years play some of the greatest game in NFL history and even in some of those losses I still took pride in how they fought in those games.

Or just play smart. Ill take a loss like the Packers game where they just were outclassed over a loss like the Saints game where they just made mistakes anyday.

:muttley: You think so Hos? You know who told me, he wouldnt be happy till cowboys win 12 superbowls! In next 15 years. :muttley:

Lightening Bolts from one's posterior? Novel...:)

Or put a competitive team on the field that can play to its potential week in week out.

You can't be serious.

if a player does not improve significantly over the previous year, cut him and draft the best college player at that position in the 6th round

EXCELLENT POST, HOSTILE!

How about starting at the top with a solid braintrust of football guys and let them do their jobs. You know sort of like: Murchison, Schramm, Landry & Brandt. That would certainly make and keep me happy. :D

Me too. ;)

At better than 6-10 and more than 1 playoff win in the last 14 years I'll be happy.

It only took Hostile 91,530 posts to figure us out! :D

A pathetic and disappointing 6-10 trainwreck of a season gives people plenty of ammo to complain.

that part i disagree with, you need to give players at least the 3 year Tom Landry rule!
think about mark tuneii, nate newton, doug free, for example

:) C'mon, Thump, who would believe that would ever happen in the memory of the Cowboys? Much less, their fans...;)

Yet, I can't say that my time as a fan has been wasted...there were many great times, despite a lack of recent Lombardis.

Yea, a run of 19 straight years in the playoffs was sweet, but that will never again be standard.

With, the change to Jason Garrett and the addition of Rob Ryan, the change for a sound and wisely directed group returns to Valley Ranch. As does a chance for Jerry to finally receive credit in the mix, rather than owning the process. His picture isn't over as well. Myself, I haven't given up on 'ol Jerry.
But as always, he has his work cut out for himself.

List looks great .. you forgot one thing though .. you need to add:

6. Listen intently to every sports writer or commentator, especially those working for ESPN, for any coach or player criticisms so we can fire or cut them immediately so we can find their replacement, who is much better, later that the same day.
