Malcolm Butler

I don't give Belichek a pass cause he's won previously. It's the Superbowl. You never know if you'll get back there again. Who knows what happened. I read Butler showed up a day late cause he was in the hospital. I have to believe there is more to it than that. It wasn't the total reason they lost. They couldn't put any pressure on Foles. They also didn't blitz much. Is this because of lack of confidence in the secondary? Hell....they gave up 44 points! Yeah...I'll second guess that decision. It it's discipline, sit him a quarter. But the whole game? Naww!
Belichick has already moved on.

heard he partied pretty hard the night before . coaches werent pleased.

We aren't going to sign any well known free agents.

Hmm....maybe so. I believe in discipline. But a whole game? Then you give up 44 points. Not all his fault but he's part of a puzzle on defense.

Speaking of Jeffery, what a steal they got. If I was a Bears fan I would be disgusted they let him go.

Jeffrey was the guy I wanted Dallas to sign this offseason. My rueage will be posted weekly until training camp begins.

And we all thought he was crying because of the beautiful renditions of America and the Star Spangled Banner!!

Yeah, there is more to the story. I would put money on him coming in late, sleeping or talking back. Belichick has a process and if a player does chooses not to follow the process then they are eliminated.

I thought Eric Rowe was the weak link, I thought that Butler would replace him at some point during the first half when Stephon started following Alshon.

Belichick has dominated, why second guess him now?

I'm sure Belechek will say Rowe gave the team a better chance. But, anyone that follows football understands the explanation makes no sense at face value. If Rowe was a better option, then why did they play the whole season with Malcolm Butler as the starter? There is no way Butler goes from entrenched starter to getting zero defensive snaps in the super bowl, if it were not a disciplinary measure.

Remember also, the Patriots make the adjustments at half. Jacksonville also moved the ball against them with Butler. The Patriots this season, even with Butler was the THIRTIETH ranked passing defense.

That's more a testimony to Bellichek having to cover for Patricia as a assistant coach. The defense normally locks up on the red-zone and can generate TOs.

Butler also was a back-up that Bellichek brought into the SB as well.

Besides the marijuana incident, I'm thinking Rowe was also on the Eagles the year before. He's also got two inches of height on Butler, so maybe he was thinking that was an advantage in guarding a guy like Jeffery, who is 6' 3 inches. Butler gives him five inches of difference.

If what Butler did is true then B.B. got cajones and stands by his word. He sets rules, if players don’t follow it - they get disciplined. End of story.

Apparently Butler thought that being in the SB was different. Although they lost, I respect B.B. for that.

We need a coach that players respect and not a buddy that will clap for them on the sidelines.

Let's not forget, Belichick put up with a lot of LT's antics in the 80s, so he is not unfamiliar with athletes and their poor decision making. Whatever happened with Butler had to be significant.

We should begin that search asap.
