He his quietly becoming a very good player. And plays smart.
He was bring interviewed by Brad Sham and Babe Laufenberg after the game Sunday night.
I recorded it, as it didn't come on until about 1:30, and watched it last night after the Panthers made Kirk "like that" loss....LOL.

Any way Babe asked him about his fumble recovery. He said it was a city fumble. Babe asked him to explain that.
Maliek said, a "country fumble" is where it is out in the open, so you try to scoop and score if you think you can pick it up. But a "city fumble" is where there are too many people around and then you just need to fall on it to recover it.

So that is what he did, just make the recovery. Wonder if this is taught by the coaches, or if it is him. Either way sounds like a smart player.

I can't figure out which one of our rookies I'm more please with. Our draft looks unbelievable.

now imagine IF Rico and Tapper can contribute next year alone with J Smith..
As a Notre Dame fan I'll be ecstatic when I finally get to see Jaylon play with the star on his helmet. Make no mistake, he will be back and he is the definition of stud playmaker. Hope Tapper can get his back right. I think we may have been trying to rush him back with our lack of depth at DE. Funny how that thought process has changed over time. Rico is kind of a long shot, but he is super athletic so we will see.

The more reps he & Irving get, the better this defense will be. Sorry, but the Crawford "brothers" of Tyrone & Jack just aren't getting much penetration. I'll be really glad to get Thorton back. The team really needs to rethink Tyrone's future. He has just not lived up to the hype laid on him. He's average at best. Too bad we're so low on DEs, or I would suggest they move him back to the 3-tech. DE is where we really need to focus on next draft. A couple of speed guys rotating off the weak side would be just what the doctor ordered.

They talked about this a few weeks ago when Byron Jones (I believe) failed to secure a fumble near the sidelines against the Vikings or Ravens. He tried to pick it up, fumbled with it in the air, and went out of bounds before securing possession. If he'd just fallen on it near the boundary Dallas would have had a turnover in FG range.

But hey, at least Byron got a fair catch interception against the Bucs. Now he can go on a turnover tear.
