Malik McDowell

Just a guess on my part, but I think he has multiple steel plates in his head somewhere and probably some permanent brain damage. I would be shocked if he were cleared to play again.

For a long time after the accident, there was no information on him, no pictures, nothing. Then, I thought I heard some information that doctors had to rebuild his whole jaw and there was eye socket damage and maybe some brain damage.

Again, just a guess on my part, but I think he should just move on from football and find something else to do.

Jerry built a sports medicing center. No team in the league is in a better position to accurately evaluate McDowell.
My guess is that the holdup is more legal than medical.

They might want the player to sign something exempting them from the normal liabilities. Something like that would require league and possibly player's union approval.

The Cowboys are committed to being careful about who they sign and who they don't.

Lives are at stake. I'm glad they are handling it with caution. Let's see what transpires.

Let's be aware that legalities must be followed with caution. The C'boys must observe.

Maybe they're considering more med tests. Tests don't go against the cap.

The Seahawks doctors wouldn't clear him but another "group" of doctors did. Was there a serious head injury involved? Unsure of what the injuries were or the severity. Have to trust the Cowboys doctors on this one. I'm sure he wants to play football again but how much risk to playing again? We have very little information.

Make no mistake...this is all about money. Seattle doesn't want to be on the hook for his bonus/salary. And they will do and say..anything to get out of paying it.

I've said it before: if there was any chance he could have played, Seattle would have kept him on IR. The fact that they released him for nothing means that he is donezo, and no doubt the Seahawks already got more than one doctor's opinion before they did it.

This was my thought too.

he's done in the NFL. But I betcha Vince McMahon will give him a go.

Thanks, xwalker. I didn't think they had to pay him because of it being a non-football injury. I wasn't sure though.
Yes, they can't restrict a player from signing with another team without paying him.

He had major trauma to the head, eye, some injury to neck. The Head and eye is scaring off teams because of CTE liability for the NFL.

Dr. Jerry will clear him soon.
Can you provide a link or a quote that makes this tired joke make sense? I have never heard or read Jerry claiming he diagnosed someone or personally provided a treatment plan. Correct me if I am wrong but I am sure Jerry's comments are always what doctors have told him, you know, like every other GM in the league.

Don't be so serious about it, it is a long time running joke. About comments Jerry made on several ocassions.
No link is necessary.

It is like about trades, when someone says, trade Dexter Coakley. No one asks for links for that one.
Or when a player is signed to churn the bottom of the roster, and someone always comments...Championship or Super Bowl...
