Man Blitzes vs Zone Blitzes

Wade prefers man, but I feel our players would benefit from zone or especially a mixture of both. We're very good at getting pressure but because of man coverage a lobbed ball will be completed for a big gain. Zone coverages stop lobbed balls and call for accurate zone piercing strikes, which is are extremely difficult under distress.

Why not let Newman float in zone and have Jenkins play man with LB's switching off and on from middle zones to blitzes.

It would absolutely un-nerve QB's.

where were the well timed blitzes in the playoff loss against NY?

how about in the final game at Texas Stadium?

what about at Philly last year with the season on the line?

where were they opening up the Cowboys new home stadium?

where were they yesterday?

They were there, blitzes are not always successful. You know what happens when blitzes are well times every time? The other team can't play offense.

Unfortunately, that never happens, to anyone ;)

We are very good at blitzing, we always run right into the guy blocking in the backfield....:D

Is it even considered a blitz if we bring the front 3 and Ware?

I have been waiting for us to start using exotic zone-blitzing schemes since we switched to the 3-4. I dont see the point of running a 3-4 defense and then running the same OLB "blitz" 75% of the time. I think Ware and Spencer need to be moved around more and Butler and Williams need to be rotated in much more often.

I also really liked the defense the Giants ran yesterday where everything but the DT roamed until the snap and then flew at the QB. With the players we have I think we could really wreak havoc with that on passing downs.

With all that said, I think our pass-rush is fantastic and the only reason we dont get even more sacks is the cushion our DB's give and our perpetual (10+ years) weakness at defending the middle of the field.
