regular people don't binge drink at 21? ah hahahahahahha. hahahahahahahahahahhahahahhaha. ok!
I didn't say that, now did I?

If a 23 year old is binge drinking to the point where it interferes with his career then sorry, that's textbook alcoholism - not to mention we've heard whispers that he may have gone to rehab for something a bit stronger.

Eh, it's not interfering in the way that it would for others in a more normal situation. He's still capable of going out and performing his job. The interference comes from him being high profile. You don't know how much he drinks unless you're there. I didn't see this video, but if the description is all there is to go by, it's not much. His friend holding alcohol does not prove he was drinking alcohol. And dancing/rapping shouldn't be a problem.

His decision making is definitely suspect, but I think a lot of this is blown out of proportion as well. I don't doubt there are others in the league who "party" just as much as he does, but nobody notices because they aren't as high profile.

The reality is that guys who are pro-Manziel will always be pro-Manziel despite what he does.

Manziel is a ticking time bomb off the field and despite the fact he keeps saying he's reformed, he seems to find himself in situations that don't paint him in the best light. It's not coincidence or bad luck or whatever. It's a pattern of poor decision making and immaturity that continues to persist even after he gets punished and says he's a changed man.

I wouldn't want him within 500 miles of Dallas at this point.

Enlighten me then. He's a 21 year old doing what people his age and older do. Is he breaking the law? No. Who cares what he does in his free time.

I think that if he were a normal 21 year old person, your point would be valid. However, he is not a normal 21 year old person. If he's the QB of the Dallas Cowboys, he's not even a normal NFL QB, QB being about as far away from normality as it gets in our society. The team can't afford to look at this as if the QB of the Franchise is 21, and there by, allowed to make mistakes a normal 21 year old can make. Normal 21 year old people don't make the money NFL QBs make and they aren't as crucial to success, from a business standpoint, as Manziel is. If you are not OK, with this, then don't sign up for it if you are Manziel. If you sign up for it, then understand that you can't do this.

I think he would be a huge mistake for this Franchise but I guess we'll see what happens...

You folks can't really be this dense. Johnny Football lost his starting job, has been fined, benched, demoted, escaped a domestic violence charge, been admitted to rehab and Lord knows what else. This isn't about a young guy drinking. It's his decision making that is becoming an issue and this stuff is a carry over from his college days. He's a professional now and the Browns have invested a significant amount of money in the guy and his team mates are counting on him. He has a problem with alcohol and he's going to run himself out of the NFL sooner or later if he doesn't get his act together.

Well said
This kid is talent-less and trouble
Keep him away from the cowboys

Johnny is no different than any other kid his age. He likes to have a good time. Most of these posters did the same thing at his age, but they think it is wrong for this kid to have a good time. He is tame compared to the 1990's Cosboys and their parties.

By most accounts, Michael Irvin was the hardest worker on the team. He put in the film study and worked his tail off during the off season and on the practice field. Sure he partied, but he balanced that out with his work ethic. Manziel doesn't. The criticism you hear from his coaches is that he isn't prepared. When off the field partying takes away from your on the field responsibilities then that is an issue of concern. He isn't the only player to do this. There are several young players that haven't learned how to balance off the field fun and on field preparedness. He is one of the few that has had to go to rehab for it.

The problem is, he's not like any other 23 year old kid, he's an NFL QB. And when you compare to other NFL QBs when they were 23, he's much less mature.

I guess I just matured faster than you.

Nice backhanded insult. Because I drank when I was 21 (like 90+% of other people in the world), it means you matured faster than I did? Riiighhtt.

Johnny Manziel is a 23 year old professional, not a 21 year old college student. And when I was a 23 year old professional, my days of binge drinking were behind me.

Nice explanation. Just what I expected from you..[/quote]
