Trade back a bit

1 Matt Elam, SS, Florida 5-10 #210

2 Barrett Jones, C/OG /OT, Ala 6-4 #310

3 Malliciah Goodman. OLB, Clemson 6-4 #276

4 Lavar Edwards, DE, LSU 6-4 #277

5 Brennan Williams, OT, North Carolina 6-6 #320

6 Rex Burkhead. RB, Neb 5-11 #211

7 Zach Sudfeld, TE, Nevada 6-6 #265

so we trade back to pick up a 7th round pick?

and i have no interest in trading back if one of Cooper, Warmack, Richardson, Vaccaro (and probably a few others) is still on the board

and did I say any where it would be for a 7

Cooper, Warmack, Richardson

seen all three of them go in top 15

Vaccaro I just have my doubts about

Matt Elam is the better football player , but he doesn't have the physical measurables of the other safeties in this class. He can strike, but he's an excellent tackler as well. Still, his biggest attributes are his awareness and football IQ. Against Texas A&M, he was free in coverage and noticed that a cornerback had missed the call to play man coverage. Elam sprinted over to cover the wide open receiver and knocked down a sure TD pass in a three-point win.

This all comes down to what we would get in way of picks if we are trading down in talent that much. If its out of 1st completely I would want a 2014 1st and a second this year

Elam: Reach at 18.. Also doesn't fit our need for a true free safety..Good player but wrong system for him

Barrett Jones: Solid player but not at pick 47.. he is not even close to the 47th best player in the draft.. I don't even see him top 80..Can get a much better guard in round 3 than him let alone round 2

Malliciah Goodman: Good player..Wouldn't mind this pick but he wouldn't be my first choice either

Lavar Edwards: I actually really like Edwards so this is a good pick in my book but not if you just picked Goodman..Both will be DE's

Brennan Williams: Good Pick.. Like this player a lot

Rex Burkhead: Really dislike this pick.. Big Ten RB which I hate (Slowest major conference in NCAA) You cannot get by with a 4.73 as a halfback in the NFL. He certainly is a tough player, he can catch the ball, he is a willing blocker.. but he doesn't have the talent to compete at the next level.. honestly don't think hes better than Dunbar

Zach Sudfeld: In round 7 I guess I would be fine with this pick but I would rather bring in a guy with potential upside like a Ray Ray Armstrong or a Russell Shepard because you can get a guy just as good as Sudfeld as a UFA

I'm just gonna go ahead and assume we traded back in the 1st to get ammo to move up in the 2nd for Jones. That is the most plausible case here since you didn't provide any context on the trade for your trade back mock.

Elam:
He should be available somewhere in the 2nd round.

Jones:
He should be available later, especially with the foot injury/surgery.

Goodman:
I like him as a Strong-Side DE. Good pick at this spot.

Edwards:
You just picked a Strong-Side DE in the 3rd.

B. Williams:
Excellent pick if available.

Burkhead: Meh.

Sudfeld:
Meh.

? Goodman is without a doubt a DE, in any scheme. Goodman and Edwards with back to back picks doesn't make a whole lot of sense either so remove Edwards and take a SLB in that spot and I'd actually really like the daft.

You didn't actually say anywhere WHAT you got for trading back. The mock is alright, depending on what we got back for trading down, who we traded away from and who else was off the board. I don't really want Elam in the 1st though.

I'm not really sure how you're going to get Goodman to play OLB at 275 lbs in a 4-3, but that should be interesting. I'm not sure many of these guys would improve the team right away.

Well, saying you'd trade back and then adding a 7th round pick (which we currently don't have) might lead some to believe that's what the trade was for.

If all of the top 5 OL prospects are off the board along with Richardson and Vaccaro, then a trade back for Elam isn't a bad play.
