Marcel Dareus or Snacks Harrison?

With the money we saved from releasing McCoy, don’t see why we wouldn’t sign one of these two space-eaters. As was noted in other threads, Snacks actually lives in Dallas. If we don’t sign one, it might mean that the coaches have growing confidence in Trysten Hill and/or Neville Gallimore.

A couple of things.

Harrison is a true 1Tech so he'd be competing with Dontari Poe for reps, not replacing McCoy's departed 3Tech reps.

Dareus seems like the biggest name out there but some real concerns there. He's played 58 out of a possible 80 games the past 5 years. He's got character and medical concerns.

This is the Front Office's chance to prove everyone wrong about their decision to (over) pay Tyrone Crawford and (over)draft Trysten Hill.

Cliff notes: Finding a 3Tech will be a priority in the off-season.

I'd look at the bottom teams in the league and see if I could turn a late (or conditional) Day 3 pick into a player who could contribute now.

Possibilities:
Jacksonville, Taven Bryan
Jacksonville, Tim Jernigan (they just signed him off the street)
Carolina, Kawan Short

I don't know if the Bears would give him up, but someone I've been monitoring since his UTEP days is Roy Robertson-Harris. Not as twitchy, but at 6'5" 292 lbs., he kind of reminds me of David Irving.

Speaking of David Irving....

Huh? Maybe?

Jernigan might be worth a late round pick but he has back issues, right? At this point, we likely can't be picky, especially if Hill and Gallimore are showing they aren't quite ready yet.

We liked Bryan in the draft didnt we?

TC started let them see what they have, the ones that have been there.
We'll that's kinda the problem. Neville has never been there and Hill barely played last year. You could technically move Crawford inside but it would most likey be a limited role given his wear and tear and coming off double hip surgery
The injury to mccoy should suffice as an answer.
Yeah I'm not seeing the confusion. This isn't a case of a loaded talented position like o-line where your not giving your quality depth already on roster a chance.

Nope no Irving, imo.
I've heard McClay say several times that they are committed to guys that love football ,.. from comments and vibes i 've observed, don't get the sense or impression that they think Irving loves football, they don't think its a priority with him and he wants to be the best he can be at his position.
Me ? i'd prefer to not even re-considering that Irving road again and o think we can try to do better.

- We just committed 2 high picks in the last two drafts on 3 tech guys, ..unless its 'a Jevon Kinlaw can't pass up gem that mysteriously drops to their laps in the very early rounds. i'd really like to at least give these two guys every chance opportunity to show any signs and semblance that they could be players for us in the present or near future.

- Me? Ditto my latter answer here too .
i really want to see if a Gallimore can show any semblances that he could be a Chris Jones- Chiefs or a Garrett Jackson- ATL type gem find before I make a full commitment to prioritize another future 3 tech guy in the off season.
And these are the times when i regret the exclusion of preseason games so the young guys couldve had some game time to
gain game experience develop, but it is what it is and we have to find a way to coach around it otherwise.

I think Snacks would be good.

Fat as hell, and can pair up with our other fat boy DT’s...

Too bad we can’t just have Vince Wilfork in his prime..

As I understand it, Gerald McCoy said he's willing to work with our d-linemen this year. At least, the team could get something for that $3 million they're paying him, despite his release. That could possibly provide a useful extent of extra help to tutor Gallimore and Hill. Just food for thought. ;)
