Marcellus Wiley - Was he juicing with Dallas?

On Mike and Mike, Marcellus said doctors in his career said he had a groin strain when in fact he had a terribly torn abdominal wall. He said he had 35 sacks in his 1st 37 games and then 9 in his next 42.

Problem is according to profootball reference he only had 8 sacks his first 48. Then spiked quickly, then went back down. I always wondered why he never produced for us, but then looking at his career it looks like he may have been juicing which would cause the torn abdominal wall or other muscles/core breaking down rapidly.

Not a fan of these players who want to blame doctors for everything that happened to them. Cris Carter said no one forced them to get in the line for pills/shots or play football. While I don't think everything that happens in a training room is completely without blame, the players need to take responsibility as well.

I don't really get the whole sue the NFL thing either. Why wouldn't you sue the team you were playing for, at the time? The NFL had no control over what was being distributed, if anything was distributed.

I think the NFL should take care of all of the players that have medical issues from any era.

I also think the players shouldn't sue the NFL for all of these different issues they have. If given the choice to play or not play again they would all still play.

Just take care of the players NFL.

This is what our society promotes these days: a lack of personal and professional responsibility.

I stopped playing football in college because I did not want to play with injuries. I knew my athletic career, though rewarding, was not going to support me long term so I refused to continue playing under the influence of drugs. It was my choice.

To this day I do not take any medications for pain due to my football injuries or any other maladies.

He's probably counting games he started. Then the injury probably occurred in 2002.

Who knows. He played for the Chargers and there are a lot of ties to PEDs and that organization during that period.

What i find interesting about Wiley is he on several occasions openly admits on ESPN how Jerry Jones was foolish to sign him to the contract given he was a declining player.

I think the NFL should go tell a lot of these guys to go pound sand and I think all of these guys should continue to sue and waste their own money.

LOL.

These guys. Sueing because they chose to play a game that is extremely physical and they got messed up doing it.

Why would it be the NFL's fault that you played football? No one forced you to play football.

This is like wrecking a motorcyle and then suing the dealership for selling you the bike that you got injuried riding.

Agreed that is was likely while he was blowing it up with the Chargers. Just from his production and the team's culture relating to PEDs etc. would definitely make this pre-Dallas. When is the last time a Dallas player has been busted for PEDs outside of the Wade Wilson mystery a couple of seasons ago? I can't think of any tbh. This team does seem to stay clean, or are better @ of getting word of testing, etc. I know that it has come out that Vets get the heads up "weed call" as to when they will be tested. That is also why I see failed marijuana tests as being a non issue for pre draft character concerns seeing as they are rarely busted for it once they enter the NFL. Odd, ain't it;)

It's definitely a two way street. And on a slightly different slant, HGH is not tested for in the NFL. I would guess that more than 50% of NFL players have used HGH one time or another in their NFL career.

If he was, Dallas ought to sue him as we signed him bases off of a body of work he'd have attained illegally.

The memory plays tricks on us all. He peaked in his 4th and 5th year about where you would expect someone to have the best years.

Pretty much all players are on PEDs of some sort.

Let's start with that premise.

This.

The league even gives a several month "no testing" window (I believe just for guys who are not in the substance program). When you talk about guys getting bigger in their first off-season, steroids have something to do with it

I doubt he was juicing while with dallas cause he did jack squat when he was with dallas. Probably did it a couple years prior to coming to dallas.
lol, that's what I was going to say. Data suggests that he stopped when he got here.

From a business investment standpoint, doing steroids and then getting a big contract is a pretty smart move, to be honest.

Couple things:

Do they not understand, that their bodies will break down?
Why trust doctors who are paid by the team? Always get a 2nd opinion by a non bias doctor.
These guys go to college(for a couple year at least), are they not educated enough to know what chronic medication use does to your body?

Not sure where you got the information that juicing caused the torn abdominal wall. Doesn't make much sense.
