Do NOTHING to extend or prolong this guy's time on the roster UNTIL he proves he can give the team more on the football field. He needs to be more consistent and just plain better. Bite the financial bullet now rather than later unless he picks things up at the QB position.

It’ll be option 2….there will be no “big fish “ free agent tho. They will likely use that extra money on a wilson or someone else.

We all know they are going to re do his contract for better or worse
Keep in mind, Dak had to agree, his contract has no more guaranteed money after 2023. Who's to say he will accept the same $40M in guaranteed money for extended years? He could very easily want Watson's money $47-48M or no dice. Just bet on himself having a career year, including NFCCG and/or Super Bowl.

This is true but I seriously doubt many would a have problem IF we got a Super Bowl for going all in.
I agree, but the evidence of this years 49ers performance is that we arent that close to a SB (the Eagles could well bring back the team for a repeat before breaking up the team in 2024) and the 49ers have Dak's number.

Just think we can't go all-in built around Dak and his 20% CAP hit. Certainly look to improve the Offense in 2023 (maybe draft a QB) if Dak fails to improve his consistency we give an option to move on (retaining the rest of that improved Offense).

Just paying QB's (to Dak's level just doesnt tend to win SB's)

We've been all in with Dak since 2016, it hasn't worked.
What has worked is team like SF and Philly (Rams too) rebuilding when things don't work and all of them making mult SB appearances since we drafted Dak.

+1......it seems this direction they going. Taking the ball out of Dak's hand, relying more on defense and a strong run game.

I'm inclined to agree but I'm 100% confident Jerry and Stephen will NOT be satisfied with only a playoff win or 2 every season for $40M.
I am not done with it. Looking at the game Dak threw 2 picks and missed a for sure TD. I would like to know if these were calls made by Moore or changes made at the line by Dak. The one in the red zone was not needed. He could have and should have picked up 2 yards with his feet. Pollard was hurt and but Malik was there and the dump off plays like the one Pollard was hurt on was there all day. He has some pop running up the middle. But instead they abandoned the run. I knew it would happen. They can’t string wins together. The TEAM including Dak played great in egirls and bucs game. I was expecting the same so we’re the rest of us.

The salary cap increased for next season. Eat the cap hit for next season and keep all options on the table for Prescott in 2024.

If the contract is restructured then it only makes him even more comfortable as the #1. If he's effectively held accountable then let's see what he does next season. It might force him to improve his footwork, read a defense and throw guys open - unlikely obviously but holding his hand and telling him he's the best, you go get 'em champ, hasn't worked over the past 7 years.

Well, we have been talking about this issue ad nauseum of this board for 2 weeks. I guess eventually the media will catch up.

I haven't watched the explanation yet, but he has two void years. I would think they could punt and stretch it one season, not automatically add 3-4 years. Two years seems more realistic.

Since Dak bent Jerry over the barrel by refusing a 5-year $175M deal in 2019 and then did it again by refusing a 5th-year contract option in 2021, it's time for Jerry to reciprocate by not restructuring Dak and putting all the pressure on Dak to get the team to the NFCCG in 2023 or else he is done in Dallas after the season.

Oh FFS

Any restructure or extension would be totally asinine. It ties us to Dak for longer. I'm not one to say he is definitely the problem but I'm saying there is enough of a question about it to let some of his dead money disappear so that if you do decide a year from now that he is you have the ability to get out sooner rather than later. You can't tell me any scout of any kind watches him and says he is definitely the man

Draft some QB and sit his 40 mil rear end on the bench. Let him deal with the team and the Dak tax on their own pay checks. Put a Dak tax on every players check and contract lol.

Shame the guy out.
Lol, I like that suggestion. There actually is a Dak Tax. Daks huge contract prevents us from signing a player like D Hop which could potentially help our offense.

My hope is we just eat the cap hit. I'm sure Jerry saw enough to know Dak's not going to cut it.
Hopefully seeing us keeping Rush and drafting a early round QB and another late round QB.
Most importantly bring in a QB coach, Quinn  has to know a guy.
Don't count on it.

LOL. They have been to the playoffs in consecutive years with 12 win seasons each of those years. Who is coming in and playing QB in 2024 with the 26th pick in the draft? Are they paying Cooper rush to stay?

Until they have a viable answer at QB, along with fielding a competitive team in 2023, they will have to work around Dak's contract. If the Cowboys can make some tough (unpopular) roster decisions this year, then they can hold the line on Dak and maintain status quo with his contract until next year.

My guess is he will respond in 2023, have a good year, get extended and we can all be pizzed for the foreseeable future.
