I just received this months issue of DC star magazine and noticed Marcus Dixon is listed as a DE but is the about the same size as Jay Ratliff (6-4/285 for Dixon, 6-4/302 for Ratliff). I'm sure Dixon can gain 17 more pounds. Does anyone think he could be the back-up to Ratliff and provide more than what Tank gave us. For that matter I think Junior Siavii (6-4/320) can give us more than Tank did.

#51 - Rashard Johnson - Alabama (let's finally fix the safety position)

this team is stupid if we don't get a backup nt in FA or the draft.

I agree with this post, especially if we don't replace Ratliff and move him to DE.

Unless they get someone in the draft, Junior will probably be the guy. Wade really liked him last year and even called around the league looking to find him a job. I really wonder if it wasn't Jerry that kept Tank over him.

Ratliff would be a really good DE, this guy is too small to be playing NT in a 3-4.

It's simple, we pick up or draft a natural NT in the draft, Jerry the Genius got rid of our true NT in Ferguson, Ratliff has an opportunity to be a very good DE in the 3-4.

that's the reason I think too

Tank probably kept whispering in his ear how beastly he was going to be

Ratliff nearly made the pro bowl as well. Just because he can do it, does not mean it's a good idea.

It hurt us down the stretch last year, and the year before. Teams could actually pick up yards, I think Ratliff wore down as the season came to it's conclusion.

Give me a big fat dude that can play.

That's what I said. Too small to play NT in a 3-4 my butt.

You mentioned a guy that made the pro bowl as an undersized NT in the 3-4.

I basically said, Ratliff nearly made it too, so what? Does not make it a good idea.

Ratliff is a pass rushing NT, he would make a wonderful 4-3 DT. But in this 3-4, he needs to move his butt over to an end position and move some fat guy in their to eat up blocks, Ratliff would definitely be a pro bowler then.
