Unfortunately, old prejudices die hard, especially in the Deep South, and Dixon should have known white girls were a no-no and walked away; especially after she told him "if my father finds out about this he'll kill us both". Shows very poor judgment on his part, IMHO...
P.S. My neighbor's daughter works for Texas Workforce (unemployment dept) and last year she managed a program for HS kids to get summer jobs. At one particular company the employees were gathering in a conference room for a 1:00 meeting and when they opened the door, two of her kids were on the conference table having sex (unprotected I might add). This seems to be most of what kids learn in HS these days, which is why I'm not for spending more $$$ on schools...
