as long as we're talking about consensual sex, cocaine is far worse. depending on the dates of birthdays, 15/18 isn't even illegal in every state.

It sounds like one those "he said", "she said" cases where the jury believed what "he said". It is concerning that were two other incidents in which he was accused of wrongdoing. Hopefully he has learned his lessons from these incidents. He is certainly well-spoken and I wish him good luck in life and football.

I did not say it was right. Lots of things I did in high school that was beyond stupid. Part of growing up, I think a lot of people here can speak to that.

i remember this story as well and was outraged by it. I am happy he got out and has a 2nd chance. Hopefully, his story can keep pacman straight as well. I hope he makes it inthe NFL whether with us or someone else.

Dixon is just lucky this happened in 2003 and not 1953 or that good old boy's grandaddy would have had him strung up.

My whole problem with him is this.....

Someone posted a story that gave the girl's side of the story. IIRC, she did not recant her story. She DID spend time in the hospital. She apparently had bruises on her face (is that from consentual sex?).

Now, Dixon is saying all the right things....and, if the sex was consentual, then I really don't think that's rape.....even statutory rape. An 18 year old kid in HS has about the same maturity level as a 15 year old girl.

But there were other issues as well with Dixon. He apparently tried to fondle a girl as well.

I truly hope we're right on this one.

I assume you have issue with the age difference and not the law itself....which is NOT archaic. I agree that they need to revist this....I believe this sounds like a case of two KIDS having sex. But there's nothing archaic about MEN having sex with girls that are much younger than them

This was a case of a miscarriage of justice, pure and simple. The law enforcement officer who labelled him a pedophile appears to have an agenda and the D.A. looks like he's there to protect the white folks. Judging by other information available, this appears to have been an effort to appease the redneck vote in the community. As for teenagers haveing sex, better education about birth control, STD's, and the unintended consequences of sexual activity has provided some considerable success in various jurisdictions. More knowledge, not less, makes a difference.
