I would have believed the notion that Payton might come to Dallas until I realized how important draft picks are to the Cowboys. Let’s just say the Cowboys finish 7-10. There is no way the Cowboys give up a top 15 pick and more for Payton. The Cowboys fill their roster out with the draft not free agency.

Sean Payton is stale too and trust I watch my fair share of Saints games and he’s committ some of the dumbest football sins you’ll see. Stupid challenges, stupid play calls on 4th down that would make Kellen Moore blush. He’s living off his time with Brees and his SB run.

He makes aggressive choices for sure but stale is far from it. Dude went 9-8 with Taysom Hill, Trevor Simien, and Ian Book. The culture he built there of toughness and bravado are visible every season.

Again he’s not perfect, but he’s widely regarded as a top 5 head coach where Mike isn’t even in the top 15.

Remember the last 3 or so years of Brees career his arm was toast. Payton was able to work with the limitations and still deliver high quality offensive seasons. Dude is actually a football savant. I don’t think even Mikes biggest supporters would call him that. Dude literally said he didn’t want to intervene in the offense lol.

Sean Payton's day has gone. Let's find an innovative coordinator (not Kellen Moore) and elevate him to the ranks of head coach.
Besides, I'm absolutely opposed to giving up a or multiple first round draft choices for Payton.

IMO, the reason many Cowboys fans have a strong Sean Payton crush is the desperate hope that somehow a competent NFL HC could rescue this idiot front office from themselves. But it won’t happen because the Jones boys believe their own sales pitch. They believe they are really great doing things their way, and just tell themselves they are “unlucky”. For 26 straight years.

In hindsight, he probably should have stopped at the five and dime and picked up a franchise QB after Brees quit, as most good coaches would do, but Winston was the starter, and having a career year before he was hurt.

If Payton is average without Brees, what is MM without Rodgers?

Maybe it isn't a clear cut upgrade but where is the list of better candidates who would actually work in Dallas, and Jerry would actually hire?
