Funny, he's started for several years under two coaches who are very well versed in the 3-4.

is he worth a first round pic? No

is he worth a second round pic? no probably not

He was drafted in the 1rst round and he has not lived up to expectations.
Just because hes a 3-4 DE doesnt mean he just stand up and take blockers. Other successfull DE get sacks and QB pressure along with taken up blockers..

He is good against the run because he cant beat double teams and hes allways in the way.

Why would one ask a question if one "doesn't care what anyone has to say"?

This thread is just nothing but your desire to let us know that you think Spears sucks because he was drafted in the first round, or something.

He is perfectly fine as a starter. No, he won't be in the pro bowl. But he is solid. He plays the run well and is occasionally disruptive. He doesn't usually play on passing downs, and his job isn't to pressure the QB, so looking at sacks is kind of pointless.

The only thing that Spears has done wrong is to allow himself be drafted by Parcells in the first round. As far as his performance, he has done just fine.

NOTICE: 3-4 lineman in Wade's scheme are blocker eaters! The one stat to pay attention to is rather or not our LB's are afforded the opportunity to make plays. Considering that we led the NFL in sacks in 08, I'd say are linemen did their job.
