3-4 DE's don't typically do a lot of pressuring the QB, they are big and beefy so they can take on blocks and keep the linemen off the Linebackers so they can make plays.

And what's the point of asking people to "explain to me why he's a starter" if all you're going to do is argue about the valid explanation given to you?

He's solid against the run, which is shared trait amongst most 3-4 defensive ends. That makes him an asset to the defense. It doesn't mean that someone better cannot be plugged in who can both play the run and rush the passer, but those types of 3-4 defensive ends are in the minority.

he actually got some decent pressure last season. he's constantly getting double teamed and thus helping mainly Ratliff amongst others get 1 on 1 matchups.

You've been given the explanation. Several times.

It just so happens the explanation isn't what you wanted to hear. You wanted people to chime in with "dude Spears sucks!!!!" but the fact to most people who actually pay attention is that he doesn't suck and does his job pretty well. Sometimes the answer to a question is something other than what you wanted or expected.
