I respectfully disagree with that.

Talent has a lot to do with it.

There's a reason why the Astros won the World Series this year and the Rangers didn't crack .500 and a lot of it has to do with the talent on the field... I don't care what sport it is.
Sorry that does not wash. We have seen DCs like Caper get very respectable defenses from so called talent less teams. Marrinelli has everyone here that he wants here from all accounts; these are HIS guys. So to SUCK like we have been is clearly a case of he just aint that good anymore. His record shows he needs a LOT of talent to be successful. We should look for better.

Agreed. Everything up the middle is an issue. I still don't like RM's philosophy of the one tech and I'm more disturbed as to why our FO continues to give his view point any credibility.
yes and no; they did hire the man to run the defense. I do agree about the D1 position.
but what happens to MCollins

What about that job Nellie did in 2014 w/ Geoge Selvie,Mincey,Nick Hayden and Crawford?
Taking guys out of work and put together a respectable showing with cast offs.
Since then they [staff] have been rebuilding.
Where I'll agree with ya is their taking too long.

This appears to be a Cowboys fetish. Remember, they had Jay Ratliff playing the nose in a 3-4. They never shore up the middle properly. They're too busy making bedroom eyes at cornerbacks.

Ideally it's a 3-man rotation at DT with the 4th guy just getting a few snaps. The rotation would be two 3techs and one 1tech. The 4th guy would be the backup 1tech.

Irving could start at RDE with Collins at 3tech and a new 1tech. In obvious passing situations, Irving could play DT. They play both DTs as 3techs in many obvious passing situations.

I think they will move away from RM's input on player acquisition. Paea was playing well but the Thorton issue was odd and seems related to coaching. They did have 2 season ending injuries at the position which would put any team in a bind.

They did have some 1tech types rated fairly high on their leaked draft board a couple of years ago.

Dontari Poe at 1-year, 8M would have been a great fit. He'll be a free agent againt next year. Frederick and Martin have struggled with him more than most DTs over the years.

Star Lotulelei is a free agent after the season.
I think he’ll be a Cowboy

They need a true 1 tech who can play run and pass. Those are most often top ten or higher picks. Or you get lucky.
