Mario Williams released

He's the guy I would like as a major piece to solve our pass rushing woes. I see Julius Peppers type production from him. Before last year, he was still very productive. Would be better money spent than Hardy.

Likely won't happen though.

Doubt he comes here but I'm sure Jerrah will make the call.

I think he'd be a decent option. Couldn't hurt. How much?

not sure why anyone would be against signing this guy. instantly a 10 sack guy on our defense. two to three year contract would be great.

It's always a function of money. He's a good fit for us, though, and we're a good fit for him in terms of the defense, our emphasis on rotating DLs, and our spotlight.

I don't think it will be the same amount of money spent for Hardy. I expect Williams to have a much better market and therefore a much better asking price.

I think so too, but I think his asking price will be at least $10 million per year. You good with that?

Not really, no. We could have kept aware at that rate. $7mm/per? He won't last long enough for that to be a possibility though.

Potentially a 10 sack guy for the next couple of years... Seems ideal. If we do get him is Bosa still a potential target in the draft? Personally I would think either Ramsey or trade back and grab Elliott

That's why I keep saying we should keep Hardy. He's a clown, but he produces and his issues will make him cheaper.

We paid the PR price and now we want to toss aside the value pick.

Classic Cowboys

problem is, it's not just the PR hit from the media. if the coaching staff feels his showing up late to meetings and other issues undermine them, then he really needs to go.

They had their chance last year. We were 4-8 and out of it.

Hardy had incentives and a pay as you go contract. They could've suspended him with cause and saved money and face.

Saying it now without actually saying it is a cop-out.

not really, suspending him for being late to meetings would have been petty and viewed as such by players and anyone else we would sign to a similar deal (RMcClain for example). I don't really have a problem with the way it played out, if we were competing for the playoffs, yea, send the message, but in the midst of a lost season, it just seems like false bravado to me.
