Wow! Got his 13th sack last night and by most account, is playing like the beast his physical traits forecast. Wonder if this is the TRUE Mario? I'm hoping a healthy Hatcher can develop for us in much the same way. They seem to be pretty similar in physical abilities. It's Hatcher's 3rd year next season, time to step up.....

13 sacks is no joke. He's playing very well.

The Texans have a long way to go, but he's a good player to build a Defense around.

Mario or Reggie. How ironic how their seasons have gone...

I think he's just scratching the surface, he's so big, powerful and versatile. I can see down the road as he gets more polished that he could be moved up and down the DL to exploit mismatches the way Reggie White used to. He could probably play every technique but nose.

In an opposite story of how things can quickly change from year 1 to year 2, Marcus McNeil has been so awful that it's rumored that the Chargers coaches have considered benching him. He allowed 3 sacks last week to Kyle Vanden Bosch.

When we played the Houston Texans his rookie year you could see flashes of that. He didn't have a huge impact on the game but he was very quick off of the ball and he was very impressive getting off of his block and pursuing the ball carrier.

I think the Texans wanted Reggie Bush but decided to pass on him because of the insane money they were going to have to pay him.

I personally think they got a better pro.

The knock on him coming out of N.C. State is that he runs hot and cold. Obviously, last night he was hot.

He's a great physical talent, no doubt, but maybe he'll be more consistent as he matures. We'll see.

He did play last season with the same type of foot injury that Newman had and played all season long on it as a rookie on that bad foot. This season he has 13 sacks and doing a good job for the Texans. In ways I feel for him because locals came down on him because he was not Bush or Young. Looking at both Bush and Young, Houston may have gotten the right man after all. Still to early to know.

He'll be the Greg Ellis of the 2000s.
Solid, came in with some criticism.
Establishes himself, has some good years on a bad team then end it on a high note.
Nothing special this Mario, but he's among the best of that lousy team.
13 is phenomenal.

I think this Texan team could develop into a good team as much as I hate to say that. On defense with Donta Robinson and DeMeco Ryans along with Mario Williams they have some talent and with the return of Andre Johnson at WR the Texans are starting to produce on offense. Losing Johnson hurt the Texans badly. I would not be suprised to see them competing for the playoffs next season with a few key moves this off-season

And don't forget their 20 year old DT, Amobe Okoye or however you spell it.

I think the Texans got the better of what most people consider a stupid move. Schaub is a better pro than Vince Young, so they did well not taking him. Bush is a swing pass, screen pass, draw play, punt return machine, but the Texans know they can draft a running back in the first to mid rounds and get good production. Hell, Domanick Williams, before injuries derailed him, was an awesome 4th round gem of a running back.

We all know what it's like to toil with no pass rush for years. The Texans have their version of D-Ware, though much more one dimensional obviously.

True. I think if the Texans give Kubiak more time he may be able to turn their team around. Being a Cowboy fan in Houston believe me I don't care to see this team get turned around but as a fan of Football I do see some legit talent on that team and with a couple of moves on the O-line and a legit RB put in place Houston may be a playoff contender.

Although I'm not as stoked as some of you others I will admit that he has shown flashes of talent, however he has to show more consistency and he has to do it more than one year. There have been several players to have incredible sack totals for one year and then have lackluster performances and mediocre sack totals the next year.

As a fellow H-Townian, I want the Texans to turn it around, get to the Superbowl and have their azzez kicked by the 'Boys.....How sweeeeet would that be? :D

Btw, does Jason Hatcher have the abilities to be productive like Mario this season?! I believe so BUT he needs to start showin' it!

Neither. Vince Young. Dont know how dumb you can be to pass on that. Hometown hero, a winner, and he would team up with Andre Johnson. It'd be like Culpepper to Moss all over again.

But no, Mario Williams.

Vince Young hasn't even looked good.

At 1st, it would have made sense, but right now Mario looks like the right pick.

I don't want to deal with the week or 2 weeks prior to the SB dealing with the Texan fans and to lose it would be murder. Houston not making it all the way for me is how I like it.

Aww c'mon, where's your sense of gamesmanship?! It would be the ultimate show down, Texas-style! High-stakes, winner take all; I'd love to see it cuz I know we wouldn't lose..... :D
