Marion Barber Will Re-Sign By The Superbowl?

Yesterday my buddy called me and said he was watching NFL Live on ESPN and they did a segment with Ed Werder to catch them up on Cowboys news. He said the one thing that Werder said was that Marion Barber WOULD be signing a contract extension this week or next week so that the team would have him locked up before superbowl weekend. I didn't get a chance to watch the show so I was wondering if anyone else seen it or if I'm just being bs'd by this guy?

I will bank on 3 things.

Garrett is not leaving.
Barber is not leaving.
TO will play on Sunday.

If you look at the quick update in the Daily Zone, the 'boys have less than $400k in 2007 to use. I don't know how much they can really use towards a new contract before the new league year.

Isn't it 2008?

We're still in the League Year 2007. New league year begins in March. And I don't know that any true salary cap dollars will be available until AFTER the superbowl.

Thank you for bringing that knowledge.

I think Hamlin will re-sign with the Cowboys with the main reason being it was Jerry Jones that gave him a chance last offseason when teams were weary of his past head injury. I think he'll also want to be on a team that's a contender and where he's comfortable with the defensive play calling.

:star: I'll open an account at that bank, too. Since it appears as though we're going to "soon" sign Barber to an extension, guess the other questions are the ones that are still up in the air. As far as Garrett staying, I would like to think that he will stay, but at this point, I'm not so sure. The same can be said for TO playing. A high ankle sprain can be a nagging, lingering inury and even though TO may "want" to play, his ankle may tell him differently though. Hmmmm....

I don't think that most teams want to be dealing with agents and contract stuff during the playoffs.
