Does it make anybody else sick to watch Mark Anderson out there today? We were all over him at the Senior Bowl, combine, brought him in for an individual workout. All he did was get 12 sacks this season and just forced a fumble in the NFC Championship game.

He would have been the PERFECT pass rusher opposite D Ware. And he slid all the way to the 5TH ROUND!! We could have had him instead of Skyler Green.

Mark Anderson has been the Bears best pass-rusher all year

but everyone passed on him, don't know why this guy is singling us out

This is probably why: "We were all over him at the Senior Bowl, combine, brought him in for an individual workout."

I didn't know about the Cowboys preseason interest, but I've been noticing Anderson's play since about the middle of the season. Hopefully we'll remember him in a few years or whenever he becomes a free agent.

Do you really think he would have been a 12 sack player in Dallas' read-then-rush Defense. He would have been another Hatcher at best.

That or his 12 sacks this year.

At the combine, everybody was raving about his body lean. It was very similar to Demarcus Ware's. He could get around the edge without losing any speed. We were linked to him everywhere after we spent so much time with him in Mobile. Some Mocks had us taking him in the 1st, most had us with him in the 2nd.

Hatcher is a DE in the 3-4, Anderson would have been the OLB. I don't see the comparison.

I'm sure he wouldn't have had 12 sacks here but he would have taken over for Ellis after the injury and given us MUCH more than anyone else did.

it makes me tired of hindsight being used only when convenient.

We should have drafted that Tom Brady guy too.

6th round pick, damn.

Did our General Manager and Head Coach have four separate face to face meetings and workouts with Brady in the weeks leading up to that draft?

The point is we spent a TON of time on this guy, he fit a specific need, and then we let him slip away. Yes. Lots of teams passed on him. And yes, there are tons of good players who we DIDN'T pick. But we had enough information on this guy that we should have taken him.

And yes, hindsight is 20/20 but hopefully Ireland and company can learn a little something from this mistake and not let it happen next time.

Then there was obviously something our staff missed or didnt like about the guy.

I am sure we had individual workouts for a ton of players but we cant draft everyone we may have liked... maybe we were gonna take Anderson with our very next pick, maybe we were trying to trade up when the Bears took him, there are a ton of variables we as the a fan didnt know.

and all he'd have done is probably get 3 sacks in our scheme

again people...just because somebody did something somehwre else, doesnt mean he'd have done it here

he gets to play purely as a down 4-3 pass rush end up there

There must have been something. I can't remember what it was though. I just pulled my old notes:

Mark Anderson - 6-4 1/4 255lbs
40 yd - 4.61 (Fastest of all defensive ends)
10 yd - 1.59 (Fastest of all defensive ends)
20 yd - 2.68 (Fastest of all defensive ends)
20 reps of 225
Vertical jump- 42" (Best of all defensive ends)
Broad jump - 10-7 (Best of all defensive ends)
3 cone drill - 6.95 (Best of all defensive ends)

My god. His numbers were crazy. Unless the guy shot someone a week before the draft, I can't imagine how he made it to the end of the 5th round.

I had him touted in the 3rd round last year, he slipped big time but when you have a tweener, they are going to slip because very few teams run the 3-4, so once his name came up in the 5th, they could take a chance on him playing DE.

They did good.

we weren't the only team to express serious interest in him, so again, why are we the fools?

Two wrongs don't make a right. It looks to have been a mistake to have passed on him and the OP is simply pointing that out.
