Two wrongs don't make a right. It looks to have been a mistake to have passed on him and the OP is simply pointing that out.

we already took our OLB, one that was the higher rated

Three wrongs don't make a right either. ;)

To clarify, I'm saying it was wrong to think Carp is an OLB.

I guess this goes to show we weren't drafting best player available. I'd almost guarantee we had Anderson higher on our board than Skyler Green or Pat Watkins but we had a need at both returner and FS so drafted for those needs. Just another argument for ALWAYS DRAFT BPA!!

There was obviously something about Anderson the FO didn't like. It must have been apparent to other teams as well, because you don't just slip to the 5th round with those measurables.

You're right. It had to be character issues becuase he was very productive at Bama and then put up monster combine numbers. I don't remember hearing anything but it must have been there.

I always liked him, but then, I liked a lot of people who Dallas didn't draft. I don't plan to worry to much about them.

perhaps we passed on anderson beacause we selected carpenter. at that point, there wasn't a need.

If i remember correctly, he took a lot of plays off in college. There were doubts that he would would ever be an every down player in the NFL. In the 5th, it was ok to risk the pick.. earlier than that and the risk was to high, especially if you have other needs and players on the board to fill that need.

It may go down as huge draft pick for Chicgo, then again, he could be working at McDonalds in 3 years.

I don't think it was a character issue, just many people thought he was more of a 3-4 OLB than 4-3 DE because of his size, and many 3-4 teams took their OLbs before Anderson, as he wasn't rated as highly as them, Chicago saw his pass-rushing skills, which were very good, and decided to take a chance on him, and it's not like they really needed him, since Oguleye and that Florida guy are really good, they took a chance, and won, Anderson brought exactly what they thought he could, a pass-rusher off the bench, it turns out he's been more than that, but if they thought so before, they would have taken him earlier, just like if the Saints knew exactly what they were getting in Colston, they would have taken him much earlier

this is one of those things where you just attribute it to hindsight being 20/20

I liked him a lot, but I was told by some resident 3-4 experts (including some bellyaching on this thread) that we didn't need two Wares.

Other than the fact that I lived 60 Miles from the U of A, watch every SEC game that involves Bama and Auburn, have friends on the coachng staff of 3 SEC schools including Bama, yea, i heard it from Buck..

Get a clue before you call someone out next time.

I guess Lovie Smith must be the clown, because Buck was just paraphrasing what Lovie told him.

At least some folks have now figured out that the team needs another one.

Why stop at Anderson? I would have settled for the Pats' rookie kicker.
