If Jason Garrett leaves to be a head coach he will do a good job. Laugh if you want, mark my words, and I'll come back and tell you I was right. You guys have completely misidentified what our problem was this year. It wasn't Garrett, it was Jerry and captain cupcake.

We are always safe anytime someone starts a thread with "book it" or "mark my words" ... so I'm happy.

Im pretty sure the chinese fire drill offense was a huge problem.

3rd and short....hmm should I pitch it to TO or call a play that has the ball thrown 3 yards behind the LOS...decisions, decisions.

i agree, i think Garrett will be a good HC. he is, after all, only in his 2nd season as OC, and before that was just a QB coach.

i do think he made mistakes and did not use our weapons to his full advantage.

I am not opposed to coaching changes this year. i could live with Wade but i'd rather have someone who can get a fire under this team.

however, there is only ONE coach on this staff that MUST BE FIRED!!! and that's Bruce Read. whether there are other coaches that SHOULD be fired is up for debate, but Read MUST be fired. our special teams has been nothing short of disgraceful.

Predictability on offense and lack of offensive adjustments are captain cupcake's fault? How so?

Mark my words. If Garrett leaves, the '09 offense will vastly outperform our '08 offense and we'll make the playoffs.

What Garrett does elsewhere, I couldn't care less about.

Besides, why should we listen to a guy that couldn't even identify how talented Romo is?

I'll cosign on these two points.

Nothing is captain cupcake's fault because I don't really know what he is in charge of. That is his problem. He can't even call punt in a crucial situation and have his QB listen to him. He came out today and said he needs to change. That is a SELF indictment, not my indictment.

So the answer, some of you think, is to get rid of the guy who is probably the brightest, classiest young coach on our staff. Did Garrett make mistakes this year? I'm sure he did. Are you absolutely sure that some of those 3rd and 1 calls weren't changed at the line of scrimmage by Romo? You don't know. I know this, I know weakness when I see it, and Wade Phillips is weak. I know an ego maniac when i see it, and Jerry Jones is an ego maniac.

Why do you think Garrett is willing to get out of Dallas? Its a circus. So, as you jump up and down with joy you are celebrating a part of what is wrong with this team. High quality people are not going to stick around this soap opera of a football team.

It wouldn't surprise me.

The only thing I think I'm firm in believing about Garrett is he's not equipped to be the offensive coordinator. I just don't think he's good at putting together a game plan, studying an opponent or utilizing our weapons.

Being the head man, though, is different. Maybe it's something he'll succeed at.

I think the QB you worship is beginning to prove himself a gutless wonder, so I would tread carefully on your chest beating on that point. "If we win, ok, if we don't ok."

Brightest? Thats why Ray Lewis and Baltimore were calling out the plays before the ball was snapped?

Listen, I'm not a Jason Garrett apologist, I'm a Cowboys fan who can remember when this franchise was led by some high quality people and made their reputation on WINNING not on Jerry's flying circus.

Garrett, to me, from the way he carries himself to the way that the people who know him well talk about him, is a quality person. We know he is a bright guy. I think he will eventually do a great job in the NFL.

If you are going to argue "continuity", that would be the kind of guy you would do it with. Let him develop.

Instead, we are doing "continuity" with 62 year old captain cupcake, who on the very day he declares he is going to be different has his starting inside linebacker attack a fan. The two incidents are not directly connected, but are almost prophetic.

Like I said, I've been a fan of this team for over 30 years. I'll be around to admit I'm wrong if I'm wrong. We'll see.

LOL. I didn't think you had fully capitulated in that "I was wrong about Romo" thread.

You will never have credibility.

If thats the case then Garrett is as weak as the rest of the staff. If Garrett lets himself get overruled, hes the same as you say Wade is.

You don't know.

I know this, I know weakness when I see it

Well that settles it, I guess.

Why do you think Garrett is willing to get out of Dallas? Its a circus.

It is a circus but IMO he is thinking about leaving because he can ONLY lose. If he stays and doesn't produce a monster offense, hes screwed. If he stays and produces an offense, what the hell happened this year? Hes in a situation where he needs to strike while the iron is hot. Garrett is going to do what is best for him. He has a built-in excuse in Detriot. If he is offered the job, I think he goes and won't be sad to see it.

There are plenty of teams getting a lot more from their offense with a lot less talent. If Garrett goes and blows up somewhere else, so be it. 13th best on offense doesn't cut it. Ill take my chances that someone can get a little more out of this team.

I dunno if I'd go that far, probably depends on who comes in and how hard they can make the team work, and some of that falls on Phillips.

The biggest issue the team has IMO is extremely poor work ethic, and it shows up on game days. They look like they ahrdly practice and too many guys make the same mistakes over and over again.
