A couple of years ago there was a lot of talk about how BP wanted Maroney. A lot of people felt at the time he was better then MBIII. I know we are all homers but would anyone trade MBIII for Maroney straight up?

Not a chance. Maroney seems injury prone and has not won the confidence of his coaches. I do think he could be a good RB if given more carries but I'd rather have Barber.

Ehhh... its a coin flip, honestly.
It's not even close right now. Barber is much better. Maroney may improve, but Barber is the better back right now.

Hell, Maroney's not even the best back on his team.

If Maroney can stay healthy we'll see.

IF is a big little word I understand but HEALTH is the only thing holding him back.

I'd trade a 2nd round pick to the Patriots for him.

I'm guessing that would probably be a great duo. They know each other's styles very well and would know how to run differently. Just speculating.

...What?

Second round pick? Hell, I would give up the later of our two first round picks for the kid. The problem isn't really his health or ability, its that the Patriots use short passes to supplement the running game. They have done it for a while.

Maroney would be exactly what we need to compliment MBIII. I say get the Gopher brothers back together!

I mean that they would know each others running styles. Therefore they would know how to run a different style at the defense, keeping them a little off balance in the run game.

They are similar backs, but say for instance Barber likes to give the stuff arm in a slapping motion, and bouncing off of the defender with his incredible balance. Maroney on the other hand could throw a stiff arm at you directly at you puting all his weight in it and hoping to knock the defender off balance. See what I mean now? They would know each others game and the little variations in their game could work to our advantage.

How are people missing the obvious? Dallas could have drafted Maroney instead of Bobby Carpenter. That would give them Barber, Maroney and Julius in the back field.

I'll pass. We can use that 2nd round pick to get a solid RB in the draft.

Maybe we can trade Carpenter for him then.

Having watched Barber and Maroney go up against my beloved Hawkeyes year in and year out while playing for Minnesota, I was always more fearful of Barber getting the rock than I ever was of Maroney.

I certainly wouldn't give a 2nd for him when we got Barber for a 4th.
