Went back and watched his snaps.

I was kinda shocked. On limited snaps his production was extremely impressive. This is gonna sound a little weird but he looks like a mixture of DLaw with an added dash of Micah in their respective rookie debuts.

Dlaw was slow to come on as a rusher but played the run well. Micah was an excellent rusher from Lb and edge but struggled when they run at him. Kneeland seems to be as good against the run as Dlaw was, but has more juice (not quite Micah’s level) in his pass rush. I think this might be one of the most underrated hits in the draft by end of season.

He's nothing like Micah because he's not going to bend around the edge but he's very similar to late-career DLaw.

His ability to turn play strength into passrush was pretty impressive and surprising.
I agree, but there was one play where he did actually bend and I had to go back cause I was certain is wasn’t him, but it was. I would say he ‘pseudo-bends’. Like the play where he ended up grabbing Watson by the ankle is a great example.

But to your point, if he looks like late career DLaw as a rookie, to me that means he has a higher ceiling than DLaw had

Would be nice, but D-Law ceiling was quite high, just below elite. Just had a short prime as a great DE.

I don’t think long term he’s an end in this league. He looks like he can be a much better fit for us inside.

A lot of overreaction to both wins and losses. Many games to go and a lot of work to be done by all teams.

I agree, a lot of very good football by a lot of young and talented players. Good and interesting fan stuff for a Cowboy fan to follow.

DLaw prime probably lasts longer if the cowboys knew how to build a proper front 7 around him. Outside of Parsons and Crawford, he’s been the only consistent player in the front seven and easily our most complete front seven player. reminds me of Greg Ellis. Once they got some talent around him, his sack numbers started goin up

He actually does have good bend. That was one of the things in his corner when he was drafted, that he was a very toolsy player who just had to learn to use all of them. He doesn't have the speed and pure movement skills of Parsons, but he has the tools to be a better pass rusher than Lawrence.

I wondered if we'd see some falloff for Lawrence this year, partly because of the scheme and partly just because of age. He had a great first game, though. I still don't think we'll re-sign him because he's on the wrong side of 30 and because we drafted Kneeland, but it was good to see him still making his presence known.

DLaw was a terrific passrusher when he was young I don't really get your point. He was never explosive enough to bend and capture the edge consistently, espeically later, and that's true for Kneeland.

After the draft I read where he was to be DLaw's backup and eventual replacement. Hence, the resemblance in his style.

However, once Sam Williams went down, now will be relied upon even more. And is off to a good start.

Hopefully the rotation holds up, and can preserve his stamina as not to hit that rookie wall with the longer season. They still need to have a plan for Micah in that as well even though his 4th year.
