Free Kidney Health Assessments

11 AM
to 1 PM

Dallas City Hall
1500 Marilla Street, Dallas

Brothers Martellus Bennett (Dallas Cowboys tight end) and Michael Bennett, Jr. (Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end) along with former Dallas Cowboy Everson Walls will join the City of Dallas to raise awareness about chronic kidney disease. Texas has the second highest prevalence of chronic kidney disease in the nation. Approximately 1.8 million adult Texans are diagnosed diabetic; another 460,000 are estimated to have undiagnosed diabetes, the leading cause of chronic kidney disease.

District 5 City Councilmember Vonciel Jones Hill will host the press conference to announce the city's partnership with the National Kidney Foundation and World Kidney Day on March 11. The foundation is providing free kidney health assessments from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 11 on the sixth floor of City Hall.

I've been hard on Martellus in a couple other threads. So, it's only fair for me to acknowledge that he's doing something worthwhile. It's good to see him do something for a worthy cause.

He's a good kid. I have no worries about him and this is a good example of giving back to the community.

We need more stories about the good things all of our players do. I get so tired of the character flaws under a magnifying glass.

I'll rescind some of my previous comments. This is the kind of stuff I wish the media would print more often.

Are my eyes deceiving me? A positive thread about our immature, worthless, tweeting back up TE?

On the real, its nice of him to be involved in something like this. Nice Martellus :)

Well, its different when it's someone writing a story versus some guy sitting at home stalking Bennett's Twitter feed for a polarizing comment to post on CowboysZone.com.

Still not a fan of Bennett, but this is a good thing he's doing.

Wow. I guess everyone that follows his Twitter is stalking him.

Correct?

I still think he's an idiot who thinks he's the best thing to ever grace the Dallas Cowboys.

Congrats on him doing something positive....finally.

No. He's still an idiot.

If these were the only stories you heard about him it would be awesome.

But it's not.

I still want to know who in the hell interviewed this guy before the draft.

Was it Jerry, drunk?

Was it Jerry drunk again taking a TE in the second round? Unreal.

No, it was Wade. The guy who is going to turn Roy Williams game around while he's sitting in defensive meetings all day.

Bennett was just another in a long line of Jerry projects where he thinks the Cowboys will look like geniuses because they found a rock few would have worked with and they turned him into a diamond.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

In the last 14 years it hasn't worked nearly enough because I don't see any more Lombardi's being added to the trophy case.

He's a well documented head case. I hope he gets it because he is yet to be the second tight end we've invested a 2nd rounder on. What's next, a QB in the second round? What's going on? This guy is an idiot who doesn't take anything in life seriously besides being a moron. What are we doing spending a 2nd round pick on an idiot anyway, let alone a tight end? This is stupid. This is almost as bad as taking 5'9 175 Sherman Williams in the second when we have Emmitt. What's with Jerry spending high picks on a position when it's already locked up? Fear? Just stop.

An idiot is an utterly foolish or senseless person. This proves quite the contrary.

Now immature, says dumb things, etc. Yep.

Semantics. He may not be an idiot, but he does do idiotic things. Like I said congratulations to him for doing this. It genuinely is a good thing. He still makes stupid decisions though. Nonetheless, I hope he pulls his head out of his *** and makes something of himself. He has a plethora of natural talent.

Thanks. I hate these Websters Dictionary posters who appear in threads and want to split hairs. It's stupid.

First of all wasn't splitting hairs about word usage, just made a simple observation regarding mb doing something positive. An idiot would not take the time to do something good for a charitable cause.

Secondly I hate when people assume what point a person is trying to make.
