some very uninformed people about marijuana, it's effects, usage and the ability to "mask" it's traces on an NFL substance abuse test.

Stop acting like you're the authority on grass, I just got out of college.

This league, and the NFL players' culture particularly for 22-30 year old millionaires would be to live a lavish party lifestyle.

Our 90s team would have more than half the players show up to practice smelling like weed. Harper, Irvin, Step, Sherman Williams, Deion, Tui, Nate, Gant, etc. The list goes on and on.

Like I said you're terribly naive if you don't think several players don't smoke in this league. I remember an Inside the NFL show about how easy it is to pass the test, how cheap the masking agents are, and how lax the NFL's drug policies are relating to marijuana. If you get caught once, then its a different story.

So I would not be surprised at all, if even some guys on our team smoke. Its just a part of the culture.

Am I the only one naive enough to think that he is just a goofy guy and attribute his antics to that, and not to drugs?

Some people have different senses of humor. ( ex: You either love "Monty Pythons Holy Grail" or you hate it. )

I just think he is funny and quickly is becoming one of my favorite players, especially if he improves the good work he did last year on the field.

I agree--it's well known that he is just goofy by nature. I thought the video was amusing anyway.

I think this will be a breakout year with lots of two tight end sets--and he is biggest reason why I don't think T.O. being gone will be so much as a bump in the road. Witten can't be doubled as much because they gotta worry about Bennett too.

So "way over half the league smokes" but you "would not be surprised if even some guys on our team smoke."
Your math doesn't seem to work there.
Like I said from the get-go, if way over half the leagues smokes, then way over half the Cowboys team must smoke, as well.

Sorry, but neither statement is true.
The Cowboys can't be an exception just because they're your favorite team.

The 90's team you speak of is probably a big part of what has made the current NFL substance abuse policy as stringent as it is and I'm sorry you had to smell them smelling like pot at practice all the time.

Exactly.

I never said people don't smoke pot in the league, but claiming that 'over half' do is ridiculous. If over half of the league smoked, then odds are we'd hear something about it.

Including the base 53 man roster plus practice squads, there are 1,952 players active in the league. The would mean, according to whoever claimed over half the league smokes pot, that 976+ would have it in their system. Now, 976 players are not all going to get away with cheating or masking agents, especially since they only have a four hour warning of their test. I say again, players are only notified of a drug test four hours in advance. Odds are, if all those players were taking weed, that we'd hear about some of them, probably the majority of them. Some would get away with with it, but all 976? No.

Yes, players in the NFL take drugs and all that, but it's not near half of them. It's a significantly smaller portion of them.

this isn't run of the mill testing parents give their 16 year olds to see if they have been hotboxin their car's lately.

They obviously know what a dilluted test looks like. It waters down the test or shows unusually large traces of substances that are masking agents. The NFL would know instantly to randomly test said player.

And these are not run of the mill masking agents. The issue over all and this is actually discussed in law enforcement circles is quite simple. It basically boils down to that an oversight body will institute a testing policy. It only takes a single test to ascertain what the test is. There is a very lucrative business that instantly works to create a way to beat the test. This only takes a matter of time. Once thats done then the test is pretty much worthless because the oversight body does not create a new test every month much less every week. Creating and administering drug tests is tremendously expensive.

IOW, the testing simply cannot keep up with the rate at which the ways to beat said testing are contrived.

thank you oh mighty spell check master of the cowboyszone forums.

umm its not the same as a spellchecker, it's you calling a comedy troop a completely wrong name, and the joke being lost in the process because of your mistake.

it's not just a spelling error, so don't try to pass it off as one, and rather than go back and make it an issue, like you did, just spell it right in the future, I didn't quote you or call you out, yet you needed to do so to me...

simple spelling errors is one thing, not knowing the name of the comedy group you used in a joke's punchline is another, just take it on the chin and don't try to turn it into something it wasn't.
