Martellus, Martellus, wherefore art thou, Martellus?

Martellus is an epic failure this season so far outside the blocking game. And yes, maybe he is not targeted enough but when he has been he's not made good of his opportunities... he struggles lining up, has had some drops, has run some sloppy pass routes. So why should Tony trust him?

Throw it to whoever you want Tony- just make it happen. Screw Martellus Bennett if need be. When he grows up and wants to be very good he will be.

IMO, I wouldn't expect this anytime soon.

As awful as I think the playcalling has been, this offense has moved the ball every game pretty much.

They had like 500 yards of offense today.

Who knows where he is at.

Saw he was split out wide near the endzone but didn't even get a sniff.

Also saw the #3 TE split out wide a couple of times. I'm sure the Chiefs were laughing their ***** off when he ran out that way.

"So they have Witten and Bennett............and they are splitting this guy out........:lmao: "

Just a little note, "wherefore art thou" isn't a declaration of location. It's a declaration of who the person is. When Juliet asks "Wherefore art thou Romeo" she's not asking where he is, she's asking why does he have to be named Romeo of the Montague family.

Now I know why you got that rotten tomato splotch on the side of your happy face.:p:

I listened to the radio call as I watched most of today, and unfortunately, Brad Sham flatly said that Martellus hadn't been involved as much because he didn't know his playbook well enough. He said his work and study habits needed to improve.

Heck, Jerry said as much in his Owner's Box bit on the pregame, which was unusual.

A pet peeve of mine. See the post directly above yours.

Same when folks misquote "I think therefore I am." Bugs the heck out of me when classic literary references or famous quotes are butchered.

Ouch. That's a bit disheartening.

we have yet to run the ball to much and people say to throw it.. when has that happened? you just made that up to credit your argument.
l

He did not make that up to credit his argument. Absolutely everything under the sun and then some about this offense has been criticized on this forum since the denver loss. I'm not saying you are wrong by any means, but neither is he. I'm sure he read it, because I sure as heck did.

I know the kid has all the talent in the world, but why is everybody acting like this guy is already an all-pro? Just throw it to him and he will go into beast mode...right. He still doesn't really get it, which has been obvious for a while. A couple more years will toughen him up or I hope and he'll mature and things like watching film and learning the playbook will be a priority. Until he learns how to do that, he's not gonna even sniff any of the things some of you want for him. And I didn't expect him to blow up anyway. He's 22, he's immature and hopefully he'll learn and be very productive in a couple years.

Yikes...

Damn... I love his personality but perhaps he needs to step away from the twit box and spend more time in that thick playbook.... I suggest he tweet plays to himself it it will help him learn the playbook.

Lighten up. The quote in the title is the least of what this thread is about. I was just being cute.

Sshhh, you're ruining the "Garrett doesnt know how to utilize him/Romo wont get him the ball" argument.

That is the question. I don't recall him being involved in the offense hardly at all. Blocking is important, but come on. He was wide open on one play, but Romo didn't see him. I hope he doesn't get frustrated. I still think he can be one helluva weapon for us.
I remember thinking to myself during the game, if he was traded to a team like Chicago he would probably blow up into a huge part of their offense.
I am pretty disappointed after the off-season talk of Garrett's 2 TE sets. Obviously he sees the potential (or did), is it on MartyB or TR? I know he dropped a good pass, maybe Romo doesn't trust him enough. You only get so many opportunities to move the ball.

Remember the one play where we tried to get him open down the seam (and did against Vrabel) but our protection broke down and Romo couldn't get it to him?

Romo wanted him on that play for sure.

I just want to know where the inventive formations we were coming out with week 1 went?

I've said this a few times and it keeps coming true. Guys like Bennett are going to make their mark with 1 or 2 big games... not by being consistently involved.

We've had a game where Crayton was the guy. A game where Austin was the guy. We'll likely see a big game or two from Jones and Barber. And somewhere along the line a nice 7 catch 100 yard performance from Martellus.
