So quick to place blame on the most obvious guy. I'd venture it'd be much different if pucks were flying at your head.

How about the great Stars offense that scored 2 goals at home this series?

Give me a break. The Canucks have scored ONE MORE GOAL than the Stars all series. The clear edge is goaltending. Luongo isnt getting beat while lying on his ***, or kicking rebounds to the opposition.

Almost two full minutes of 5-on-3 in period 1, and they didn't even sniff the goal. That's a joke! Couple that with Modano, 1 shot on goal in last two games!?! Inexcusable! Turco's hardly the problem.

One more goal than the Stars all series huh? 8 goals in 4 games (5 1/3 + if you count OT) isn't gonna get you too many wins, especially when 4 goals were in 3 periods.

All that stat indicates to me is that Turco is keeping them in the series. Aside from the first game, he's allowed 0, 2, and 2 goals. And one of those goals came in OT. Can't do a whole lot better than that.

There's no doubt Luongo is playing great, but Turco has given up one more goal, and you think he's the worst goaltender ever.

Yes, you can. Its called Roberto Luongo. Another name on the long list of goalies that have outplayed Turco in the playoffs. I mean, the Stars tie the game up, and minutes later Turco is laying on his back watching the puck slowly trickle into the net. The man is anti-clutch.

Its like you are trying to tell me that despite giving up key goals at the absolute worst times, Turco has been good?

You're not addressing my point. If Turco has given up ONE MORE GOAL than Luongo -- who everyone has been raving about, including you -- how can you be so adamant that he alone is the reason the Stars are losing? It doesn't jive.

Because Luongo is making the key saves at the key times, with almost identical goal support, including 2 OT Wins, while Turco is out to lunch letting the puck beat him off the end boards, and letting pathetic slapshots from the top of the circles eat him up. If the goalies were reversed, I am 100% sure the Stars would be up 3-1. Turco has proven time and again he folds in the playoffs, and while this series has been relatively better, its still not good enough, his lapses in concentration are still around and his ability to be as unclutch as possible is still a huge issue. I am not trying to say their arent other issues, but when the opponents goalie makes big saves and makes the rare goals his team scores hold up, its plain as day that Turco isnt good enough.

Giguere
Aebischer
Theodore
Luongo

What do they have in common? Who's name do we add next year?

The simple fact of the matter remains, if the Stars had scored sometime in the 60+ minutes of OT play in Game 1, and one more goal had switched sides, the Stars WOULD be up 3-1.

You're saying one guy is clutch, while the other is a choker, and there's ONE GOAL DIFFERENCE. This post doesn't address that at all.

Let me try a compromise: They both suck.

Marty once again is getting outplayed in the playoffs.

His teammates are once again letting him down with a complete lack of scoring.

You are missing the point. There is a one goal difference, but look at the goals Turco has given up. A long range slap shot in OT, another saveable shot in OT and a goal that came with 5 minutes left in the game almost instantly after his team tied the game. Thats why I am calling him a choker, he lets bad goals in the worst possible times. 2 OT losses which brings his record to 1-9, and another instance of him giving up a late goal that hurts the team. Is Luongo doing this? Does he have a career of doing this? Thats why Turco is a choker, it shouldnt be that hard to understand.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=7X-LXI-nYq0 That has nothing to do with Turco, but its an amusing rant by JFE.

Ahh, now I understand. You expect him to give up zero goals every game. Now you're satisfied.

So mister Bash Turco... he's now even with Luongo in GAA this series. Still think he's a "choker?" I think you misunderstand the meaning of that word. For some bizarre reason you feel like a guy is either great or terrible. There is no in between.

A real "choker" wouldn't have thrown a shutout last night. A real choker would have folded under the pressure of being eliminated.

You make it sound like Turco can't help tripping all over himself and flailing about wildly on the ice. I don't know if you're just doing it for effect or what, but it makes you sound ridiculous.

I think I'll take the word of Barry Melrose over you. He said on SportsCenter that if the Stars had lost that game, there would be people blaming Turco, saying he couldn't win the big game (aka you). But in reality, if Luongo has been the best goalie in the playoffs (and there's little argument there), then Turco has been Number 2. And last night's game showed that.

This thread reminds me of the fact that Ed Belfour might possibly be the most overrated figure in the history of Dallas sports.

I like how he keeps getting mentioned in a thread about a goalie losing in OT games. Reminds me of a Cup series against the Devils.

With the Canucks new coach this year they have implemented the trap system which the "new" nhl was trying to eliminate. They do not have the most talented defensemen but in that system they work well. Dallas has been outplaying them most of the series they just have to get their bounces.

I also think Turco has been playing great this year in the playoffs and while Luongo is a good puckstopper he doesn't have the puck handling ability that Turco does...which has really helped to break up the Canucks trap.

PLEASE beat the Canucks though. If the world was perfect them and the Oilers would never win a playoff series...or even a game.

Atleast Eddie managed to get that far and put a 3OT shutout in for good measure.

you can complain about the Pyatt goal but you can't complain about the Sedin overtime goal.

Still though, as usual Turco lost a first round playoff series.
