Hard to think that Marinelli has any interest in this kid. He took a look at him when he was coming out of school, he didn't pull the trigger then, and he still hasn't. Whereas we've picked up a lot of other less known players, with less pedigree.

At this point, we kind of need warm bodies.

I really hope Jerry brings this guy in. Yeah, I know he has been cut twice lately, but I can't help but think that Marinelli could work some of his magic with him. Drake Nevis looked really good vs Washington and has earned more playing time, but I would like to see Austin come in and receive what David Carter was receiving. What could it hurt? Imagine if Austin could come in and regain his college form like Nevis looks to be doing. That would allow Dallas to concentrate on getting just 1 more DTand 1 more DE next year. Austin does not have to come in right away and wreck it, but maybe he could be a solid rotational guy for the team this year. At least give Hayden a breather every once in a while to keep him fresh.

you want a guy thats been cut twice in the last year or so?

By using that logic, the Jaguars should never have signed Jimmy Smith.

I doubt anyone would have a problem with signing him to a futures contract after the season and seeing what he could do with an offseason and training camp.

bring up Jaguars personnel decisions is why this post is the fail that it is...

Guys get cut and claimed all the time. The only fail here is you ignoring the larger point.

And, considering that Smith managed to put together a resume better than many top WRs who have played this game, this is one personnel decision made by Jacksonville that is fail free.
