While correct, what was the point of pointing out an error that probably didn't affect your ability to understand the premise of his post? But I'm sure ** appreciated your grammar lesson as well as other Zone members.

I've said it before. I'm here to both educate and argue. Also, WG, it appears, to get under your skin.

Your prerogative. There are many reasons why folks join a messageboard.

Also, WG, it appears, to get under your skin.
Not hardly...

lets say our Dallas defense stops them everytime at our 20. The deeper McBriar kicks it, and the Dallas D still stops them at the 20. thats more yardage against the Defense and makes us look worse.

I know it sounds weird, but very true

HUH?

Are you somehow suggesting that punting well hurts our defensive stats for yardage allowed because it gives the opposing offense further to go .......?

If we give up a 30 yard drive before we stop them what difference does it make if they end up on the 20 or the 10 or the 40? It's 30 yards either way.

I suppose there could be some incredibly small effect, but really only if you accept the plausibility of our defense having some mysterious inability to stop the opposing offense until they get to the twenty.

i know it sounds weird, but my hypothetical is true about. Depends on how they rate the defense, and ratios given to yards and points allowed.

anyway, don't let me bog down the Punting thread, McBriar is the bomb, and what I said doesn't even affect that.

It was just something to think about when they rate defenses, and how.

now back to regular schedualed programming....

It's theoretically possible, but it's based on an unrealistic notion that a team would mysteriously be powerless to stop the opposition's offense until it reaches the 20 yard line.

Nevertheless, I agree that McBriar is doing well and hope it continues.

Here to educate me, huh? Okay.

For your sake, I hope that there is someone on this board that is here to educate on both the use of commas and how to avoid sentence fragments.

In the meantime, you can write a 5,000 word post on the use of affect vs effect. While you're at it, go ahead and write one on the proper use of your and you're. Heck, why stop there? You can do one on their, they're and there too. Hey that reminds me... do one on to, two and too if you don't mind. Just for good measure, you might want to throw in where to use know and where to use no.

I seems like your chosen crusade to save The Zone from incorrect grammar will have almost no limit to what it can encompass.

Don't forget the spelling. It is receiver, not reciever. It's spelled scrimmage, not skrimage or scrimage or skrimmage.

The road is long abersonc, but with patience you can make a difference.

One time deal

I realize what I am about to write is silly.

Who actually talks about the punter, right?

Well if you were in Oakland or Tampa - right about now.....

You might.

Does that KO return really go against our scoring D stats? Do the "official" stats not discount that since it happened on special teams?
No they don't discount it.

That's why it's a good idea to consider all the factors than can influence a stat before making conclusions.

Did you mean "It" at the beginning of this sentence or are you giving us a lesson here in ebonics as well? ;)
