Matchups Concerns with the Rams

I think our defense matches up well vs the rams.
the rams struggle with speed...we have it.
I think DLaw and 54/55 will be the stars of the game.
this is a different Jaylon than when we faced them last year.
Since kupp has been out...they don't look the same on offense.
I like our run game.
and I like that OUR QB has his confidence back.
WE WILL BEAT THE RAMS SATURDAY NIGHT.

It's a bad matchup for everyone because their defense is good (not so much against the run) and their offense can play several styles dependant on how the opposing defense plays them ..

Dak is going to have to have a legendary game for us to win. I dont see us keeping them under 30.

Their run defense sucks. They are the worst in the league. So I feel we can run on them all day long. If thats the case it will open up the pass offense.

I'm also confident that our D can keep their offense in check. I don't think they will score more than 30.

My biggest concern is our D verses their play action...I believe they lead the league in % passes out of play action and that's a vulnerability for our defense in giving up the big play, particularly down the middle to TE's/WRs (a strength of their offense)...our D will need to be on its toes bigtime but hopefully keeping them in 2nd/3rd and long to try and nullify the effects of play action.

It's the playoffs and we are now into the second round of the tournament. Anyone we face fro, here going forward is a tough matchup, requiring this Cowboys team to have a perfect game to win. There's no other way around it. There is no easy win formula, these teams going forward are all here for a reason.

The only way we beat this Rams team is the put constant pressure on Golf, stop their running attack, and have long sustained drives ourselves. We also cannot let the Rams score early, because there will be some late scoring going on in this game. The rams can easily put up 28 points in a half, if you do not win time of possession and control the tempo.

This game goes one of two ways, we come out sluggish and a bit lost and find ourselves down like 24-3, or 24-6 at the half and it's over, or we go toe to toe and its like 13-10 either team in the lead going into the half. If we have them there, we got a fighting chance down the stretch. We come out flat? This game is over before it started.

not true , we had them beat in the first half and that Sweitzer fumble started the momentum swing and it got away from us BUT WE ARE IN THE NOW, since then Mcavy one and done in the playoffs, his defense gives up too many points, and for sure he gets away from using Gurley way to often..im not saying Garetts better but if you start a individual thread on it, ill show you what is happening NOW..
Nonsense

When you let a team back in the game
When did McVay turn into Belichick. This doesn't concern me at all.
when did garrett turn into a good coach?

This concerns me a lot

That's true in reverse, too, though... and often times teams coming off byes, who have been cruising at the end of the season, are the teams that come out flat.

Rams can't score if they aren't on the field. Let's make this a 2 hour game. :)

You defeat play action by getting into the backfield and sacking the QB. Play action takes extra time.

Yeah. On short yardage situations it makes the Dline hesitate...giving the QB more time. Got to win on first down to make that trickery superfluous. In other words, nobody bites on play action on 3rd and 8 or 2nd and 12.

NFL leading rusher (Zeke) vs a defense that gives 5 yards a pop...class dismissed.

The Rams scored 31 and 48 points their last two games. Not quite sure how the offense looked real suspect down the stretch.

This Cowboys defense will be tested Saturday night. No doubt about that.

Yup they have only 4 games under 29 points including weeks 14 and 15.

We wont get 5 yards a pop running into the teeth of the defense with stacked boxes. Our line is not as good as in previous seasons. Our line is actually pretty average in run blocking and only fair in pass protection. Run Zeke off tackle is the recipe for success.

Don't you dare count out Randy!!! Vs Wilson contain is more important than chasing him down for the sack....but not with Goff. Pressure Goff so he has to run and take the man down!!

So...looking through some of their games:

Against Minnesota, Cousins put up over 400 yds and 3 TD's without the benefit of a running game at all. On the other side, Cooper Kupp smoked the Vikings.

Against Seattle, Wilson had three TD passes but less than 200 yds passing. Big day on the ground for Carson and Davis with 184 yds and a TD.

Packers put up 27 with a very mediocre game from Rodgers. Jones had 12 carries for 86 yards and a TD.

Saints lit them up for 45 points, with 4 TD passes from Brees and 125 yards on the ground.

Seattle put 31 on them again with 3 TDs from Wilson and a huge ground game of over 260 yards!!!

THen came the Chiefs, with 6 TD passes and a so so running game.

Eagles beat them with 30 points, mainly all on the the ground. Foles had decent passing numbers but no TD and 1 int. Looks like they moved ball through the air and then punched it in on the ground.

Even the 49ers put up a lot of points, with 32 although a lot came once the game was decided. Mullens had 3 TDs and 3 ints, with ALfred Morris putting up 111 yds on the ground and a TD.

The blueprint on defense was set by the Bears, so I am sure we will watch that game very closely to see what the Bears were able to do. They picked Goff 4 times and held Gurley to 28 yards. Broncos D also played them pretty well. I would like to think our D plays a fairly similar style as the Bears do so we should learn something.

I think the biggest thing is we need to stick with our game plan early and as long as we can. Pound the rock and it seems like the middle of the field is the best place to target. Need the defense to hang in early...if we can get pressure on Goff with just the front 4 and some occasional blitzing we should be able to play coverage. It was a big loss for them in losing Kupp. Gurley is a weapon in the passing game, would like to see Lewis on him like he was on Kamara. Gurley against a LB and even against most S is a mismatch.

Or we throw a curb stomping on them and run away with itZ.
