Depends who else has been injured in the league at that point.

I don't think Matt Jones gets signed until somebody gets hurt. He's not a guy too many coaches would want to depend on, so I think he only gets signed in a bad situation like an injury.

I see him going to a receiver-starved team like Chicago, Baltimore, or the Jets.

I can't see how one of those teams couldn't use him.

I wouldn't give up on us yet, Stash.

I hope you're right, but the front office's choices being made at receiver and offensive line are frustrating me.

I still think there is a chance he could be wearing a Star at some point. The scoffing begins in 3-2-1

I don't see how people can 'scoff' when the fact is that he had almost as many catches in 12 games last season as our current group of receivers did combined.

That fact makes me plenty nervous.

I'd rahter have Matt Jones as my pet-project WR than Stanback.

Cowboys still aren't interested in Matt Jones

Matt Jones recently mentioned on a Little Rock radio station that the Cowboys were among the teams that have been in contact with his agent, per Pro Football Talk.

That is true. It is not an indication that the Cowboys are interested in signing Jones, a former first-round pick and physical specimen released by the Jaguars after some drug-related legal problems.

Dave Butz, Jones' agent, contacted the Cowboys. He was told, as Jerry Jones said repeatedly this off-season, that the Cowboys aren't considering adding Jones to the receiver mix.

"We're very happy with our situation there," Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones said.

Tell us that in Week 6 when half of 'em are on the shelf!

I like how you make Stasheroo sweat in the process too

I just think back to last year when they were "happy with our backup quarterback" too.

That worked out well...

I'm torn about Jones. My first thought is don't bring in a guy that has had some issues, especially after we got rid of so many "problem" players in the off season. However, the chance to sign a guy that big and that fast that was a former first round pick, and giving up nothing to do it is interesting. He could obviously help us and we wouldn't really be taking much of a chance considering it probably wouldn't cost us much to give him a chance. I HATE drug users, but he is a young guy and hopefully he has put this behind him. Maybe we should give him a chance. Just not sure.

I agree. So let's go sign Pacman Jones.

...oh, wait! :D

Matt Jones doesnt have a big enough upside to warrant taking a chance on him.

Jeez. What percentage of guys linked to the Cowboys actually become Cowboys? 1%?

Good stuff from Stephen Jones.

The sign "losers need not apply" is still hanging up at VR. :)

Just how good are his hands? That is always my first criteria in judging a WR.

That should give anyone who has any confidence at all in the front office and coaching staff pause for thought about any decisions they make.

It was such an unbelievably bad decision, that it's hard to take serious a front office that would allow it to happen. Johnson couldn't play. Almost every fan could see it, and so could the reporters who cover the team. More than anything, the Brad Johnson thing pretty much destroyed my confidence in Garrett, as Johnson was probably kept because of him.

But when it comes to Jones, I agree 100% with anyone who doesn't want this cokehead on our team.
