There is so much evaluation left before the draft that we may all change our minds on players more than once. But just from watching multiple games of each guy IMO Goff is a top 10 guy and lynch is a physically talented project.

I think most people would admit Lynch probably needs a lot more work than Goff.

He explains himself pretty well.

The Pick: Paxton Lynch, Quarterback, Memphis
The Dallas Cowboys may not be in this position again for a while, which makes the decision to draft a young quarterback even easier for Jerry and Stephen Jones in the team's draft room.
The Cowboys, when healthy, have a roster good enough to make a playoff run. This is more like drafting Tim Duncan after an older David Robinson goes down with an injury than anything else. Smart teams use the advantages given to them, and the Cowboys can draft a clear quarterback of the future here and not be rushed into playing him. It's really a no-brainer.
Lynch is not my top-ranked quarterback—that's California's Jared Goff—but his bigger body (6'7", 245 lbs), mobile running style and big arm better fit what I think the Cowboys would want at the position over a smaller guy like Goff. Lynch arguably has better upside, and given that whomever they draft at quarterback will be able to sit and learn behind Tony Romo for a good while, Lynch's physical advantages are a big plus

I'll tell you a kid I'd love to get if we traded back into the teens and picked up a bunch of picks.

That's fine but I can't take him at 4. I mean the success rate for guys that do look ready to play already isn't great, now you are lowering the odds. I want a young qb in here I can live that pick if thats their guy.

Yep. The Senior Bowl and Combine, along with underclassmen declarations could very well change the landscape pretty drastically before the draft actually gets here.

Plus Free agency. Lots will change before the draft gets here.

Ah, how could I have left FA out of the mix? Bottom line, though, is that the mock drafts today will likely look quite different three months from now, the question is, how much will it change in the first few slots? Sometimes the first few picks remain pretty static, and at other times there are a couple of changes. What I wouldn't give to have a peek at the Cowboys draft board the day before the draft.

What I wouldn't give to be the guy making the decisions. All I need is billions of dollars and I can do it. Anyone want to chip in?

I agree. I think for the QB's, folks need to try and compare Manziel to Goff and Lynch when Johnny was coming out of college. We know now that the Cowboys had Johnny very high on their board on draft day. It will be tough, but that could give folks a glimpse of what they think of these two guys coming out. It's going to be a long 4 mos.

Probably my second LB behind Jack now that Jaylon Smith is damaged.

Thank you, you are right on the money. About Lynch, There are some in this forum that refuse to see that or just flat out don't know, they see size the physical abilities and they are like addicts, "let's get that guy". The number one thing you want from your QB is intelligence, actually you want that from all of your key position players, really all of your players if you can draft or sign them. That is how Jimmy drafted and that is how Belichek drafts and signs, smart players. I know you will not be able get a whole roster of those type of players but at least try.

.

See, he is stuck on the size and physical abilities. That is not what Garrett is looking for. In my opinion, from listening to him these past years

Quite honestly, I am not all that interested in what Garrett's prototype QB is. It is not like he has a shining track record picking out backups let alone college prospects.

The scouts are the ones who need to have the most input into it.

Don't trust Wade Wilson's ability to develop a QB, so Goff is the one for me. He requires less tuning.

I am with you on your opinion of Wade Wilson. I have been saying for years that we needed to replace him, I based my opinion off of his playing career , he was one of the most hot and cold QBs that I have ever seen play in the NFL, when he is hot he is unstoppable but when he goes cold, watch out, and he would do that in a game get hot and then cold or vice versa.

Darron Lee.

He's a playmaker. Would be a very good add. They just need to have him play WLB or MLB. The SLB in this defense is essentially a non-entity.
