Matt Mosley's 1st pick predictions on GAC...w/audio Post #49

Oddly enough, I'm intrigued by the impact Eifert will have on this offense.

So James Hanna can be cut?

Just because it's the "hot new thing" doesn't mean it's better. Haven't we learned our lessons with Anthony Fasano (the last GREAT Notre Dame TE we took early for great matchups) and Martellus (I don't want to work) Bennett.

Someone will trade up to think they have the NEXT GREAT MATCHUP and overpay. If he's the only one available there, just trade down.

What if nobody wants to trade up? You sometimes have to make the pick and the best thing may be to take the value over reaching for another position.

That's what would irritate me about that pick. Garrett has pretty much proven with those guys that he can't judge/doesn't know what to do with that second TE position.

If you knew for sure he was the next elite Tight End you wouldn't be at all interested?

If we knew for sure he was the next Gronk I think it would be a disaster if we passed on a weapon like that.

Forget the fact that he plays TE. Just the overall dynamic a weapon like that can bring.

A 6'6 250 lb TE that runs a 4.5 40 is rare.

I can definetely buy that argument. I think Tavon Austin would be a bust here because it would take some creativity from a design standpoint and Garrett would try to use the guy like he is Kelvin Martin or something.

I'd rather reach for a few spots for someone I know will play a meaningful role (Lower ranked DT), rather than draft a guy who doesn't give you an upgrade at all (TE).

Where you're drafted is only important on draft day. After that it's how you fit on the team.

Yeah I heard that. It's not a good draft at the top but it's not that bad.

No way on earth does Oakland move down that far for only a 3rd.
You got that right.
I think he missed the "plus Dallas' 2014 1st rounder" part....because for sure that is what it would take to get to #3.

Someone mentioned that Stretch sounds dumb as a box of rocks, and I defended Stretch. But this really is the dumbest thing I've heard in awhile--except maybe for someone suggesting here that Dallas should take Matt Barkley with out 1st rounder this year.:D

Why would he be cut. Most NFL teams carry at least 3 TE's nowadays.

moving up for a guard would be the stupidest move ever.

Definitely. I think a lot of teams are going to pass on the guards.

A TE in the first would be a complete joke.

That's what I say in my fantasy football drafts too. :)

Hanna was 6'4" 252 lbs, ran a 4.49 40 and got drafted in the 6th round.

True. We still don't know if he can play. But point taken.

Unless he turns out to be a great player.

Yeah, cause lord knows a lack of a SECOND great TE has been what's been holding the team back.

No, what was holding this team back for years was its refusal to draft BPA.

One thing I think regarding the people of the GAC crew is that there is no way that someone from the organization is going to give them accurate information. Mosley was the one saying Tyron Smith was not an option two years ago.

Lets see....fault management for not drafting BPA (after the fact of course, nobody really knows if the team has or hasn't been. BPA is subjective and really only works if a team is able to accurately identify the BPA) and then proceed to make a case for drafting a player because the same team who supposedly screwed up in the past is now claiming this player is BPA.

Yep. Sounds about right.

you are right.I am going out on a limb and say either Warmack or Cooper will be available @18.

I take Witten and Eiffert all day long in 12 personnel base. Hanna would be great injury insurance so you wouldn't have to completely abandon the foundation of your base offense if Witten or Eiffert go down with injury. In the meantime you could still use Hanna at some F and H, let him eat into overrrated Vickers' snaps, and still be a key special teams contributor. I'll take that every day with the 186th pick in the draft. If you judge a player by who is most most likely keep opponents awake at night, it would be Eiffert and it's probably not even close.

Exactly. Mosely completely whiffed on the Tyron Smith pick, surprised anybody still listens to the guy. The info he got sounds like 100% smokescreen to me.
