Matt Ryan, Something Looks Familiar

In today's game against the Cards, Matt Ryan at times looked pretty good. Then the O-line began to break down and Matt Ryan went from "Ice" to slushi real quick. Its amazing how many people would have said..."Romo's fault." "Romo choked." had this type of play been done from our QB. Ryan was misfiring, getting sacked (a safety too!) and generally not moving the offense down field after the half.
Lets compare this to Tony's loss in Seattle his first playoff appearance...
Romo may have fumbled the snap to lose that game, but atleast he had the team in position to win it with time running out. Call it a choke all you want, America. But in tomorrow's papers, will you see them bashing the kid in ATL? Nope. Valiant effort! Or some other way to make the kid feel better about his tough loss.
I, by no means, think Matt Ryan is a bad player. I'm simply using him as an example to show the unfair bias placed against the Dallas QB position. It also doesn't hurt to point out that almost all QBs perform bad when the O-Line breaks down.
On the flip side, Warner looked good, but he had a lot of time to find the open guy. Warner under pressure is ugly as a bowling shoe.
I'm sticking with Tony! Poor kid needs somebody to back him!

That's a really good post.

Nice job and thanks for pointing out how the O-line really matters to the overall success of the Offense. All the weapons in the world don't mean squat if we don't have time to get the ball there.

Matty Ice:laugh2: and then they played the Vanilla Ice song...Ice Ice baby, OMG I couldnt stop cracking up.

But Matty is just a rookie. So he will get a pass. Tony has 3 nasty Decembers under his belt and is going to be 29 in April.

Matt Ryan is a rookie QB, H E L L O. Sorry but your arguement is weak, just because Dallas has NO real franchise QB, don't start lumping other team's franchise QB's in the same category.

Im not downing Matt Ryan. I'm just pointing out that in Romo's first season with starts at QB, he was lambasted for "choking" in the Seattle game. The only time its a "big game" is when Dallas loses. I know Tony has been on the losing side of the ball plenty of times in some tough games, but for example when he beat the Giants..again, nobody ever said, "wow, Romo didnt choke in a big game." No, instead they say it just wasn't a big game.
It's the double standard held high by the media and fans alike that gets under my skin.

I wish we had Matt Ryan. :)

Not me.

For all his post-November faults, Romo's quarterback play has never actually cost Dallas a playoff game. Conversely, Ryan's two interceptions and safety were game killers.

Romo's play warrants much criticism, but let's be intelligent in our application of that criticism. Atlanta's offense is designed to protect Matt Ryan while Dallas's offense is predicated almost entirely on Tony Romo.

Our line was horrible this year, but Tony has been making boneheaded decisions. Comparing a guy with six years in the league with a rookie? Ryan had an amazing year with the falcons, Romo's year with the Cowboys fails to even come close to amazing.

But, I have to admit...our oline has been lacking for many seasons now. Last year I believed they had finally turned that corner. I would love for us to target a Mike Webster type of center this year. Unfortunately players like that don't come around that often. If we could cure our oline, this team would dominate.

sometimes the QB has to be the leader of the team... and take the blame for poor play! But some fans will never get that...
