Matthew Golden will be a Cowboy

I agree with your analysis on Golden being the better WR. However, WR isn't the biggest need and it's not even close to being. Mazi Smith n Justin Rogers (0 games played) are you 1Ts, and run defense is the Top priority. You have an Elite WR, and several fill-ins, but Mazi is a below average starter, c'mon now.
The Dline is in much better shape currently than the WR room. Outside of Lamb the WRs are FCS level.

What I’m saying is this team is clearly trying to build with the draft. Diggs is coming back. We need starters. We can’t fill them all but we need a starting receiver, DT…I’m not saying corner isn’t a need…we just have bigger needs then a corner they won’t use once Diggs comes back.
Can we depend on Diggs after 2 injuries? I honestly don’t know.

I’m just saying CB should be in play in the top 3 rounds if it’s BPA.

Not saying Wr isn’t a need but we need a Cb and DL,LB not to mention a back QB now and OL ( Tackle )
Dak isn’t very good going through his progression ( gets locked in on CD or TE )
Not very good at throwing the deep ball

You dont draft a corner in the top-15 because Diggs will be on pup to start the season. Thats crazy talk.

The corners we have will get us by for the first month and a half. Our receivers on the other hand….

After seeing how the team operated in the first week of Free Agency, im convinced Golden will be a Cowboy unless the unexpected (Carter, Graham, Hunter) fall.
Hmmm… I’m even more convinced they don’t see WR as a big need. Much less big enough to facilitate taking one who’s limited to slot and would rate as a mid 2nd round pick in normal WR talent drafts!
I think they’d take Jalon Walker if there or target corner if he’s not!

I’m not in disagreement it may be a concern. I’m more so speaking on what I think they feel. I think they believe Elam can hold over until Diggs gets back. I think Elam is our starter. You aren’t wrong but this is how the Cowboys operate. They would rather suffer at corner if it means drafting a position of need.

Most NFL receivers take time after being drafted
Not very many start out the gate great unless they have the right coaching staff and QB

The best seem to be ones that can run the route tree

I think receiver is a situation where they have a guy high on their board they think will be gone…I think if McMillian is there they take him:

Worth noting Cowboys have had solid success with rookie receivers like Lamb and Gallup.

Back in the day, I would agree with you, but not today with the new rules. Malik Naber and Brian Thomas Jr set the league on fire with no QB last year.

The Cowboys need to draft the best player on their board. Will Johnson was a top 5 prospect until he was injured early in the season. Tet was a top 10 prospect until he had injuries. Golden has measurable talent that would be among the best in the league. Williams is a Georgia boy and those defensive linemen have dominated the league lately. Just pick the best prospect that is there at 12.

Golden or Tet id be thrilled with at 12. WR is by far our biggest need and it’s not even remotely close. I like Goldens fit with Dak a little more, exceptional route runner, but I have Tet a little higher on my board. Would love either. Not a fan of Burden or Egbuka
I agree on the need. There are WRs in free agency, or were, reaching for one in the draft doesn't sound like a good idea to me. I doubt they take a WR at 12 unless someone drops like Tet.

It might be longer than that before Diggs is ready

And we dont know how much longer he is going to be around or even any good. Thats two knee tears

I’m seeing McShay and others dropping McMillian into the 18-25 range. I think that’s probably closer to the value for a receiver who’s going to have separation issues at the next level!
Why force and overdraft a position because it’s weak when you can pickup a higher rated player down the board because it’s a position of strength?

Yeah that was Jerrys reasoning in not taking a WR in the first from the time Jimmy left in’94 until drafting Dez in 2010.

Instead he would trade 2 firsts or 1st/3rd for a WR or draft them later. Dumb and shortsighted strategy

Lamb played the slot between Cooper and Gallup.
Gallup’s rookie season was so mundane (especially early on) it in part was one of the reasons we made the trade for Cooper!
