Matthew Golden will be a Cowboy

Back in the day, I would agree with you, but not today with the new rules. Malik Naber and Brian Thomas Jr set the league on fire with no QB last year.

That’s fair
Those two are special and immediately became WR 1 for there team

So maybe we need to just go best player available instead of need

Trade back to around 16 then take

1st RD) Mathew Golden
2nd RD) Benjamin Morrison
3rd RD) Judkins or Hendersen
4th RD from Trade back) DT

Go along way to fill our holes.

I could make an argument that the Cowboys need to draft a defensive lineman, cornerback, running back, and wide receiver with the first pick. Cowboys need to pick the player they feel is the best at 12.

And they both had Jayden Danials as there QB at LSU
Both had over 1000 yards there last year in college

Lamb played the slot between Cooper and Gallup.
Gallup’s rookie season was so mundane (especially early on) it in part was one of the reasons we made the trade for Cooper!
Gallup wasn’t the reason it was Allen Hurns we had no number one.

Gallup had 15 yards a catch and 500 yards as a rookie. Decent for a rookie 2nd option.

Lamb had success as a rookie. Do we really care why? Are we gonna be upset if a rookie has success with Lamb here?

That is my fear of drafting a wide receiver at 12. I just don’t think the Cowboys will throw enough for those kids to make a difference. Although I think Golden could be special.

Golden (5'11" 191) vs. McMillian (6'4" 219)

I'm not going to get into what the differences are between the two., most of us know.
The question is what WR is a better fit? The Cowboys biggest issue is inside the redzone when space is condensed.
Running a 4.3 is nice, but those opportunities are not always there. Having a target that wins in contested areas on a regular basis is.
Lamb is the man who will see double digit targets a game and his partner across the field will see half of that. Is Golden the type of WR to exploit coverages inside the redzone and be a major factor?
This .......McMillian/Burden are a better fits for this offense/QB IMO

Tet is a strong possibility too. Will Johnson and Barron are also guys I can see them taking
CB Will Johnson still currently struggling with an hamstring injury that will impact pre-draft workouts, and already questions about his 40 time speed
i can see him dropping further than expected.

I'm seeing a RB like Ohio State TreVeyon Henderson going much early than expected, in the first round ... breakaway homerun speed, receiving skills
instincts and he can already pass block.

A 3 down back who never has to come off the field .. only durability concerns.
But i'd use him like Detroit does Jaymir Gibbs, ..scheme-design him, rotate his downs, touches,. situations .

Dak isnt a “throw a jumpball” type of QB though. Its why Dez wasnt as effective once Dak took over. Get him a speedster with elite separation skills
IDK about this Willie........
*** Dez was a poor route runner. It's why he struggled even after leaving the Cowboys. He even hired a route running coach in the final comeback attempt.
*** Dak needs a WR with a wide catch radius AND an excellent route runner. Remember he often talks about his receivers being where they are supposed to be?
*** Just not sure Dak has the arm for Golden's speed

They need a number 2 receiver and the draft sets up well for them to get one in the draft and it's a good investment when you look at what receivers cost.
Gallup
Tolbert
Flournoy
Mingo
- even tried Cooks who was woefully mis-schemed here by coaches

But we have to keep churning at trying to find & place that key No.2 WR guy.

Can we depend on Diggs after 2 injuries? I honestly don’t know.
I'm not sure this matters coz there's a very good chance this is his final season on the team. In other words, ban aide his position until he returns and worry about his replacement in 2026.

The top WRs are good, but not the quality of past years.

Many have Tetairoa McMillan as the top WR prospect.
He is 6-4 and FWIW, NFL.com has him graded at 6.40

A few years ago Dallas showed interest in Treylon Burks. He is 6-2 and was the 6th WR drafted in the first. NFL.com graded him at 6.50. In 3 years he has been a major disappointment.

A couple of this years highest rated WRs will likely be solid. But overall this group is weaker and the bust rate higher.

Even though we need a WR2, if you draft a receiver in the first, especially at #12, he needs to be one who can be a top WR1 in the near future. I dont see that type of receiver in this group.
It would be like this team to to take a WR high in a bad WR draft and wait too long on a RB in a great RB draft.

Ditto here.

I'm for reaching and grabbing a position role ..just for sake of that position.

I'm for McClay selecting best player graded in according to value of McClay's draft board.

that's CeeDee Lamb.. vs DE K'LavonChaisson ...
