Matthew Golden will be a Cowboy

Golden (5'11" 191) vs. McMillian (6'4" 219)

I'm not going to get into what the differences are between the two., most of us know.
The question is what WR is a better fit? The Cowboys biggest issue is inside the redzone when space is condensed.
Running a 4.3 is nice, but those opportunities are not always there. Having a target that wins in contested areas on a regular basis is.
Lamb is the man who will see double digit targets a game and his partner across the field will see half of that. Is Golden the type of WR to exploit coverages inside the redzone and be a major factor?
McMillan is 6'5" and plays even taller

IDK about this Willie........
*** Dez was a poor route runner. It's why he struggled even after leaving the Cowboys. He even hired a route running coach in the final comeback attempt.
*** Dak needs a WR with a wide catch radius AND an excellent route runner. Remember he often talks about his receivers being where they are supposed to be?
*** Just not sure Dak has the arm for Golden's speed
Tet isnt an excellent route runner though. Golden is

Gallup wasn’t the reason it was Allen Hurns we had no number one.

Gallup had 15 yards a catch and 500 yards as a rookie. Decent for a rookie 2nd option.

Lamb had success as a rookie. Do we really care why? Are we gonna be upset if a rookie has success with Lamb here?
The majority of Gallup’s receptions and yards came after the trade for Cooper!
If I remember correctly he had a total of 2 receptions through the first 3 game and everyone was spazzing!

I think there’s going to be way too much emphasis to get the ball to Lamb to justify that 35m a year contract for any WR to have what’s considered success by fans much less a rookie and the growing pains that come with them!
That’s going to be compounded even moreso if they go to the run emphasis offense that’s being touted!

Bland
Diggs
Mukuamu
Elam
Carson
Butler

Vs

Lamb
Tolbert
Turpin
Campbell
Flornouy
Brooks

Yea, no

Diggs & Butler are both out post surgery . Get them off that list . That leaves Bland as the only proven dependable CB . Scary .

Tre Amos 3rd round Ole Miss would compete to start and Re sign Gilmore he’s needed .
To be honest McMillian is the only WR I would take as high as 12 and he won’t be available anyway . Take a defensive front 7 starter at 12 . The best player available that fits that description .

Tet isnt an excellent route runner though. Golden is
His production doesn’t indicate that. 58 rec for 900+ indicates someone who is winning on mostly athleticism. Something he won’t be able to depend on all the time at this next level.
Brandon Cooks had 67 for 1150 and 128 for 1700 plus his last 2 seasons and the Saints were criticized for taking a slot receiver at 20. I see a mid 2nd round pick being pushed up the board because it a weak draft at the position!
