Matthew Stafford to Dallas [in draft]?

Stafford (Georgia - Highland Park) has to decide if he will declare for the NFL.
If he does, does Jerry try for him? Probably a 12-20 pick.

Matthew is pretty young and is too immature to start right away (IMO). But God, this kid has the best arm I have seen in long long time. I lived in Denver for 10 years and got to see Elway play live in about 14 games. I think Stafford has Elway beat as far as arm strength and sometimes accuracy.

He is going to win some Super Bowls if he is given half a chance. I saw him throw a perfect strike of 78 yards in the air, during high school, and it looked like it was no big deal. Of course he was playing my team, but he was just outstanding the whole game. What a joy to watch this kid.

I would love to see him play for the Cowboys, but wanted to here what you guys thought and what his chances of Dallas grabbing him?

Second, despite what people think about Romo, he's going to be a Cowboys quarterback for several years. He just needs managing, that's all.

Matthew Stafford is not coming to Dallas, ha. And he's certainly not going to be available at 12-20 if he does come out. He's going in the top 10, if not #1 overall.

Dude is awesome, crazy strong arm.

I think he may stay in school another year. He comes from a UGA family (parents met at UGA, I believe) and they aren't hurtin' for money.

I guess he will be the McFadden of this draft. The player some will day dream over and come up with impossible scenario's where Jerry will get the deal done. At least last year we had 2 first round picks to work with and known interest from Jerry. With Stafford all you got is fans with too much time on their hands day dreaming.

The kid will come out when he finds out how high he is rated. I've seen 15 different draft sites and almost all of them have him top 3.

First.....we dont have a first round pick and our 2nd rounder is low, so how are we going to move up?

Second.....there is this little thing called a contract that we gave Romo that is for about a zillion dollars with about 50% guaranteed.

It might be history repeating next year with OT Andre Smith going to Detroit with the 1st pick and Stafford going #2 to the Rams. I'm not a big fan of Bradford from Oklahoma, by the way, so I think Stafford will go before he does. Having said that, the Rams' O-line is such a mess that they might consider trading this pick down a few slots ( to the 49ers perhaps ? ) as soon as Andre Smith is off the board and take OT Eugene Monroe, Virginia.

However, there is a possibility that Stafford falls all the way to #20 if the Rams pass on him. I don't know how desperate the 49ers or Chiefs are for a QB ( Chiefs might stick with Penn ) but if they both go strickly by need ( Chiefs - Malcom Jenkins CB, Ohio ST ) and 49ers and OLB, he could very well fall to Detroit.

This time last year, many mocks had Brian Brohm in the top 5-10. Just because he comes out early, it does not assure him of anything.

If they took Crabtree it would not be a bad move, but I think they can't because of Millen.

I can see them going OT and Andre Smith, or DL and Orackpo. But given how bad their QBs were and Stanton always hurt, they have to go QB.

Matt Ryan pushed that back to the top. Kid was fantastic.
