The NFL scouting combine is designed to test a potential NFL player's physical ability and fitness. With the interviews and aptitude tests given to the prospects, the combine also tests a player's mental ability.

Former Lakeland High and Florida Gator standout Maurkice Pouncey was ready for both at the combine, which ended Tuesday.
Still, even he was amused by a question from a team he wouldn't name.
"They asked me, if there was a fire at my place and everything was burning down, what would you go back and get," he said. "At first, I thought if everything was burning down, there would be nothing left to get. But I told them if I could get back in there I would have to get my wallet. It contains all of my identification. They seemed to like that answer."
More teams are starting to like the winner of Rimington Trophy, given to the nation's top center. Pouncey is expected to be drafted late in the first round or in the second round. One site had him going to the Minnesota Vikings with the 30th pick of the draft.
He said it doesn't matter which team drafts him as long as he hears his name called.
"I would like to go to the team that will win the Super Bowl next year," he said laughing.
During the combine, he did nothing to hurt his standing.
The center was one of more than 300 participants in the NFL combine. Former Kathleen and Marshall defensive lineman Albert McClellan also participated in the combine. They were all attempting to make a good impression for the NFL Draft in April.
"It went great," he said. "It was truly an honor to be invited to the combine."

When he arrived in Indianapolis on Wednesday, Pouncey said it was nearly nonstop. He had meetings, physicals and media obligations before meeting with a total of 27 teams Thursday and Friday.
Saturday was the workout, where he did individual lineman drills, ran the 40-yard dash (5.56 was his time, according to Scout.com). He also did the short shuttle and the vertical jump. He did not bench press at the combine and will do that during pro day in Gainesville on March 17.
"It was a good experience meeting with the teams," Pouncey said. "We'll see how things turn out."
