No, not really. And like I said before, I think the coach is the one person who should be allowed to talk about the refs.
I'm mostly talking about Cuban, HeavyHitta, the Ticket... go back and read the thread about the Spurs/Mavs series.
I've read and posted all over both threads. I know what's being discussed.
The comparison I was questioning was the Commanders-Mavs comparisons, which immediately led me to believe you were saying Avery was a complainer, because Joe Gibbs is such a complainer.
Cuban, which I already discussed earlier in this thread, is in a class by himself. But IMO he's beginning a new generation of owners, and he's trying to hold the NBA accountable for their mistakes. You can call him a whiner if you want, but I think he's working for change. He's been an innovator in everything he's done, and this is no different. Plus, he complained a little after Game 3, a lot after Game 5, but after Game 6 it was done. He said nothing about the refs after that. I don't know if he actually has as much influence on the refs as he thinks (in fact it may be the opposite), but he does what he thinks will help his team. I'm not going to fault him for what he does, especially if he actually does bring change, since we can all see the NBA needs it.
Cuban does love the spotlight, which may be my only complaint about him. He's become the face of the organization, which I'm not really stoked about. But it's his team. He's like the Jerry Jones of the NBA. Say what you want about JJs methods -- and there were tons of gripes about him when he started -- but he has been a huge influence (mostly positive) on the NFL for the past 15 years or so. If Cuban turns out to help effect change on the NBA, he will be looked at the same way. We just don't know now what will happen in the years to come. But Cuban will be here a long time... I can't see him selling any time soon... better get used to seeing him.
As for Avery, he complained after Game 5, but that was about it. And he was only complaining about the last 9.2 seconds of the game. I don't remember anything he said during the Spurs series. Any talk about Cuban rubbing off on Avery (or the players for that matter), is premature because it was only one game.... one game that had a call that will probably go down as one of the most dubious in Finals history.
As for fans... fans will be fans. Everyone has whiny fans. It comes with the territory.
