Morey has messed over the Spurs on numerous occasions, even when we acted in good faith. I have always hated the Rockets, so any basketball related misery that comes their way I will gladly rejoice in.

You didn't like the Jackie Butler for Scola trade?

Morey is very good with statistical analysis but very bad with people.
He is almost as charming as me.

The jersey fiasco with Lin and his tendency to treat players like trade pawns go beyond the norm of NBA front offices.

Some GMs, like Jerry Jones, fall victim to buddy syndrome with players but Morey is on the other extreme.
Those guys are a collection of stats to be moved for better stats.

Interesting scouts take on Parsons.
And Mavs overall.

Chandler Parsons is very good. Can do more on offense than the casual fan realize. And he's solid on defense.
Dallas is a problem. I hope people remember that they came the closet to beating the Spurs last year.

Against the Spurs its a game of precision... Parsons is a great addition for that game.

I'm pumped about this year's team. I really think we can contend with anyone in the West. MFFL

PG position is their weakness....
Larkin will be really good.
Felton and Harris are both backups.

Larkin is in NY now but Dallas is trying to add a PG for the 2.7m exception apparently.
Felton always been seen as a likely trade candidate.

Agree for sure PG is the weak link for now.
Devin can really defend and Felton can eat.
That's about where they are right now....

Keep in mind it is very possible Monta plays PG in some sets.

Would like to see them get Mo Williams as an offensive PG option.
Failing that Jameer Nelson has a playoffs proven game if not one that is excellent anywhere.

I knew shane went to NY, and hopefully fisher puts him to use... sad they treaded him because he is a great pick and roll point, patience would have paid spades.
This is the one weakness for the Mavs that stand out, mainly because of the outstanding pg's in the west.
But make no mistake, its not about the offense, its the defense.... felton and mo are not good at it, devin is ok
Regardless the Mavs are a problem, I like the moves that they've made... can't be strong everywhere.

the problem with Larkin is size.
he'll never be more than bit player because he simply can't defend NBA size players.

He has a lot of JJ Barea to his game tho and that has a very real value.
He has to dial in his jump shot to Nate Robinson or JJB levels but I am guessing he will over time.

Devin is a better than OK defender but he is just not good offensively.
Mo is terrible defensively but offensively good.
Agreed in that standing out right now as a black hole.

Will be interesting to watch all these teams after the movement of the off-season.
NBA has really done a masterful job of making the off-season interesting.
So many moving pieces, it has become similar to european soccer.

He's small @ 5'11"/6', but with some gained strength, heady play, and his leaping ability (had a vert well into the 40's) he should be able to hold his own.
I think he will be okay... better athlete that JJ, taller than Nate. (they're good players also, as you know and expressed)

I think the one thing good about the Mavs PG position (if they get mo) is all three has proven to get hot at times... so the Mavs can respect the hot hand on a nightly basis, they're all Vets, smart, and respect the process.... three headed monster might just be the ticket... we'll see.... not a Mavs fan, but I love Dirk, Monta & Rick..... wouldn't mind seeing them up end the "unstoppable" Spurs.....

PS.... you can kinda add Ricky Ledo into the mix.... although he's more of a two...

I like Rick a lot. Very underrated coach. Coached the pants of teams during 2011 run and was the only one who gave Pop(imho the best coach going) anything to think about last year.

Handing Rick a lot of pieces seems to work well. He tends to find ways to use them.
I don't expect Dallas to be great defensively by any means but he offense was really good last year and should at least maintain while having a uptick on defense.
Obviously if TYSON Chandler or Dirk get hurt they'll be scrapping to make the playoffs but right now they look like a 4-5 seed to me.

Mavs could go crazy with an all offense line up of:
Monta
Ledo
Parsons
Dirk
B. Wright

That would be a hard group to stay in front of and offer insane floor spacing. But boy would they struggle on defense, lol.

Solid on defense? Hardly. Parsons is a dreadful perimeter defender.

That's not true at all. Parsons got the starting gig as a mere pup BASED ON DEFENSE.
Your personal pity party aside he had the 2nd fewest missed assignments on the Rockets in year 1(behind only Battier).

He is not a shut down wing defender because he's a bigger, less quick guy but he is far from terrible and came out of a defensive system at Florida.

At 36 minutes a game he wasn't as good defensively last year. But he was still far better than Lin or Harden who were the other starting perimeter defenders.

You couldn't hardly find a Rocket fan last year that didn't think he was the best 2 way player on that team.
