Mavs Trade Luka to Lakers

Don't see how. Flagg, Christie, and a 2026 1st round pick. Add in Davis if you want, but he can't stay on the court so I don't.

Looks to me like Dall is the clear winner. Young bucks to build around, and screaming w/ talent.
They got Lakers 2029 first rounder. Who knows what that looks like by then. I can’t imagine Lebron still being there. And who knows if Luka is there.

Dall gets to rebuild w/ great young talent. Won't take long at all.

Davis was a throw-in to make the salaries match, no more. He's rarely healthy, so he's a zero.
Man, I hate the trade but AD is far from a zero.
He's still a top 15 player in the league. He had been realitively healthy the last 2 seasons.

I seen this with the Thunder coming. I guess everyone did….when I saw Celtics last year and saw what Thunder were doing I knew that Finals run last year was gonna be it. They are so stacked.

They have that guy lol. He’s the one wifi had the foresight to know we stood no chance as long as Luka plays 40 plus minutes a night on defense.
Lol

Are you talking about the same Luka who took the Mavericks to the finals last year?

If going to the finals means “you stand no chance”, then I want a roster full of young superstar players that “give the team no chance”.

Thunder were too young last year. The league is showing where it’s going. Thunder don’t have one defensively challenged player on their team. For as great as Luka is the Lakers didn’t get very far. One more win then us lol.

Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

You this years Mavs team stayed around .500 would beat this Thunder team?
No. But the Thunder have potential to be an all-time great type of team this year.

Ultimately, any team that has Luka will have a chance to compete for a championship for the next 10 years.
That’s how it was with Dirk Nowitzki. As long as you had him, you had a chance to compete.

I’m sure if it were up to you, you would’ve given up on Dirk after they lost to Miami the first time they made the finals in 2006.

But Dirk was a superstar phenom, who would always give you a chance to win. And us fans with patience were rewarded with a championship 5 years later in 2011.

You won't like this take.....especially if you have Luka fever........but Dirk was different for me.

I had my questions about him, too. Mavs didn't have a big man, and during that era, most of the big men stunk. It wasn't the 90's anymore, it was Shaq and everyone else. Mavs sucked at defense and I felt they needed a better interior presence next to Dirk....Tyson Chandler comes and saves the day.

But Dirk and Luka aren't alike. I question Luka's conditioning and his will to win. I never questioned Dirk.

I never question Dirk's heart. NEVER.

I remember when KG used ot try to punk Dirk and he'd light him up for 30+.
I remember Karl Malone knocking Dirk's teeth out, and him coming back.

Dirk never loafed around. Never did not get back on defense if he didn't like a call.

It's just different.

How I feel about Dirk, I'm sure younger fans feel about Luka. But I lived it. I remember how raw Dirk was. I remember I met Dirk and Chris Anstey...don't remember the year, but Dirk was a rookie. Didn't speak a lick of English. Or he pretended not to. He had a translator. I remember how bad we sucked.....When I saw Calvin Booth get fired...I immediately thought of his game winner he hit for us to advance past the Jazz.

So I'm always gonna have a Dirk bias. I saw him from the bottom and watched him take down one of the greatest teams in the modern era. And did it with his second-best player being Jason Terry.

There are some things you can't teach. Luka will always have great stats in today's league. But Dirk was dominant in a much different era, where the league was more than just 50 3-point shots a game.

As effective as Dirk was? It wouldn't shock me if he'd put up 30+ in today's game.

I would've never traded Luka because he was one of the fans. But I admire a GM that's willing to make the tough decisions. Most of us fans would rather lose with Luka then win with someone us.

You cannot debate with folks willing to embarrass themselves deliberately to prolong arguments rather than admit they were wrong and move on.
Just say the most cringeworthy nonsense ever.
I am not arguing with Kendrick Perkins level IQs.

Dallas was never winning the Luka trade.
You never give up the best player in a deal and you certainly don't give up the best player when that player is far younger.
AD is a top 30 player. He rises to top 10 when fully healthy for months at a time but than that is often short-lived.
Again, this isn't about opinions we can check his totals for NBA all 1st and 2nd team.

LA sold him at a high (even though he was currently injured). Dallas had a similar player in KP and should have known better.

Luka will be great next season. And likely for most of the 5-7 seasons after that as well.

Dallas will be trying to decide that first 30 games if they can compete for a title next year and if not, they will be looking for a trading partner for AD before the trade deadline.

The team has to reshape now totally which likely means losing Gafford and PJ which were elite trade pick-ups by the same goofy GM that undercut himself fresh off a trip to the NBA Finals.

The thing is I understand why Nico is lying. You can't out the NBA. I will never understand people with actual brains repeating those nonsense talking points.

Exactly. The sooner people wake up and realize the NBA rewarded the Mav's with the #1 overall to move Luka to the Lakers, it all just comes together. Nico isn't some fool, he is playing his part that Adam Silver asked him to play. If they are willing to do this, what else is staged when it comes to sports entertainment.

Its now May and people are still in their feelings about Luka....wait until you see what Flag becomes....a actual good two way player.
