May we, fans, openly start hoping we tank? 8-8 is for losers

We are headed for 8-8.

No more.

No more of these mid-round draft "finds" by Jerry and the scouts.
8-8, 9-7, 7-9 --- they keep us in perpetual average status. Like this season.

Tank it and we pick top 5 in the 2019 draft. Think Bosa. Let's think strategically and for the future.

Well if 8-8 is for losers than we are in serious trouble because other than a few good seasons and a few bad ones over the last 20 + years, and the Cowboys record is almost exactly 500 over that span, if my info is wrong than someone please correct me. And while I don't always agree with the Cowboys draft I think that is the least of our problems, I could argue that is one of the few things this FO does well, and have drafted more pro bowlers than almost every other team in the league over the last 5 years or so. I know I have read that several times, and again if I am wrong please correct me, I have no problem admitting when my info is not accurate.

On the whole, we are 8-8.
Now, while we have had talented players, our coaching after Jimmy is atrocious. Had those 2 egos worked together, we'd have 7 Lombardi trophies.
Harbaugh, Stoops or Cliff Kingsbury of Texas Tech.
Dig it!

I love it when people think how they root is going to "strategically" affect anything. :muttley:

I get the rationale, so resist the urge to tell me I don't understand, it's just not wired in me to root against the Cowboys. Besides, it has as much affect on the outcome as your (alleged) strategic thinking. But to me, losers root for losing. I'm not going to do that, and it won't change the Cowboys record one way or another. Have fun.
Putative losers simply have decided not to live vicariously through a football team that has done nothing relevant since January of 1996. Putative losers have simply had enough of the Jones/Garrett nexus...and the questionable decisions that have resulted from that nexus. Putative losers have decided that the psychological/mental expenditures over the team as it stands is an exercise in self-harm. The apparent "loser level" of the observer is commensurate with the observer's current emotional investment in a team headed for a finish that will do little good long term.

this is all making me sad :(

Will I get blasted if I admit I cheered when the Skins recovered the fumble for a TD?

Its a sad, sad admission for a 40+ year fan, but Jerry and his puppet leave me little choice.

That is pathetic. Sorry, but even the most bitter fan wouldn't cheer for that.

WELL IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU, ISNT IT?
o_O
Buck up! Think how bad the Long March was across China, think about the sanitation guys in Mumbai!
You have not have it bad, bourgeoisie personage!
We will arise from 2018's ashes and, I dunno, wander around.

First off, learn some synonyms for "putative" instead of using it three times in one paragraph. Two, if you're an adult still "living vicariously" through the results of a football team who doesn't even know you exist, you should probably examine your priorities.

I watch football for entertainment. I don't wait months for the season to return just to start rooting for losses - as if I can control such things - out of some holier-fan-than-thou mentality that I'm going to change the team's fortunes by my rooting behavior.

So I'll root for the Cowboys to win next week, too. Because I like to see them win football games. Sue me.

Rumors are Herbert might go back to Oregon, and I don't see a QB worth tanking for.

Losing out in December for a franchise QB - understandable. Setting out in October to lose out for Rashan Gary or a WR... ehhh, not worth it.

Firing Garrett is the only real major thing we have to gain by crashing and burning, but he looks like he's set out to tank himself. Bleeding off 50 seconds for a 50 yard FG attempt to tie doesn't sound like a man who's anxious to win the game.

Well, with no first rounder now, no reason to tank.
