Are you aware that as good as Parcells is at drafting players, he failed in New England with most of his offensive line picks as well? There is an exception here and there but I think in New England he was something like one out of eight with Dave Woulabaugh (spelling?) being his only hit.

Parcells didn't have complete control of the draft in New England, and the Patriots never took an offensive lineman in the first or second round when he was there. They drafted seven offensive linemen overall during his four years there -- all drafted between the third and seventh rounds -- and they hit on three starters plus a solid backup/part-time starter. In New York, Parcells drafted guys such as Randy Thomas (second round), Jason Fabini (fourth round) and Ryan Young (seventh round).

I'd say Parcells has done quite well drafting offensive linemen, considering that he hasn't used any high picks on one.

I was more surprised by his ranking of Leonard Pope as the 6th best TE.

I, for one, like Mayock. Although he does have Man Love for Cutler. Thanks for the posting.

Looking back on it, his drafts in NE weren't as bad as I thought although Todd Rucci was drafted in the second round. Well, since he didn't have full control as you stated with the Pats, maybe it is him because the offensive linemen he's drafted with Dallas have been his only weak spot in my opinion. Funny, the guys he's drafted high here have been below average at best and the one guy he took in the 7th round may turn out to be the best of the bunch. And, just for the record, very few teams draft offensive linemen high a lot in drafts, so Parcells is not the only guy not drafting linemen high. Other than specialists, guards and centers have the lowest probablity of being drafted in the first two rounds according to what Gil Brandt told me at the Combine.
