Micah's price about to go up again?

Jerry should have run to Micah with a contract offer 2 minutes after Micah made the comment he did not have to be the highest paid player at his position. That was the time to sit with Micah and work out a deal for less than $40 million.

I know some people do not respect the CAP but it is there and it makes sense to work with it. Save $3 million in CAP space on each of your top 5 players and that's $15 million in CAP space per year. Maybe that money helps keep one or two of your top guys around, or it means signing a free agent.
Jerry did go to him, and him directly and Micah basically said Talk to my agent.

Sounds harsh but your not wrong. He's a diva, a phony until he shows otherwise. Getting the bag will only magnify what he is character wise. On and off the field. Nothing will get better but I'm hoping I'm dead wrong.
he (and you) are absolutely wrong. phony? y'all just say anything.

Of course it will. My question is, in what world does Parsons deserve what Watt is making? Because he's younger? Because he has leverage? He has both. What he doesn't have is Watt's talent. Sorry, I gotta say it. I've seen Watt end games with strip sacks and scoop and scores. I can't seem to recall any of that from Parsons in crunch time.
The Cowboys have one of the best defenders in the entire NFL and our “fans” crap on him. This place sucks.

Trade him. He will not be worth the money or trouble. Find some players that want to take the team seriously instead of playing with his plastic microphone. He won't even attend OTA's, yet wants to be a leader? A leader grows up, this kid hasn't yet.
If you only want players on your team with no interest in self promotion, you really aren't going to like this game in a few years.

Agents have contracts with players. Those contracts stipulate that only the agent can negotiate the deal. The player can end their association with the agent and find a new one or handle negotiations themselves. If they do drop their agent they still pay for the time the agent put in on behalf of their client at a rate stipulated in the contract between them.

Jerry Jones fully understands how it works. He can talk to his players all he wants. The players can talk to him all they want. Neither is going to get away backdooring an agent.

No argument. Just saying that's what happened.

I think a lot of these top players are holding out, though a bit risky, to get the biggest bag they can.

Why take 34M per in 2024 when I can most likely get 40M in 2025. Over a four year contract that's 24M he is leaving on the table.

You will probably argue that securing 100M in guaranteed money and taking 34M is what you would do...and use a good excuse like "It's a violent game and injuries are common..so I'm securing the bag"

But these guys are still getting paid after injuries.

If Micah has a serious knee injury before signing...he's still getting a big bag from someone. He will still become very wealthy.

In my example, 24M is worth risking injury for if your still gonna be wealthy.

I think that's how these top athletes look at it and why a lot hold out now a days.

I agree it seems better to secure the bag early...but it seems like few top dogs are doing it these days
In Micah case the dollars are pretty well set. Just like with lamb. Jerry just doesn’t like doing things till the last minute for some reason. If he wanted this could be done today. The dollars and years are all set already. It’s just structure

He maybe lining his pockets in terms of airtime etc discussing the Cowboys, but the price for Micah is escalating
We are talking two different things...

Jerry is about lining his pockets...

You're suggesting the cap hits from Micah'a contract are something Jerry cares about a great deal...

Cap and cap management has no bearing on Jerry making money or not.

You know this.

In simple terms: Jerry would pay Micah 55M per if it would cause enough outrage and attention in media to make significant profit.

I mean you're technically right, but structure is going to be the deciding factor of any deal. I'd pay you $1,000,000 for a used Honda Civic if I only have to pay $1 per month on it.

In a weird way larger cap hits only make Jerry more money. The more the cap is tied up the less he is expected to spend in free agency.

We have to play make believe here.

It's obvious everything Jerry does is media driven for profit.

He has parlayed the Cowboys and sports media into a cash cow.

He don't care about winning. He's won. 3 times. More than most owners. He has one of the best teams ever under his legacy...the early 90s Cowboys.

There is no higher NFL owner rock star level to get to...hea lived it in the 90s. It's about money now.

I strongly encourage all Cowboys fans to watch for highlights and to pass time, strictly.

This franchise is about paralyzing the Cowboys into more profit.

Anyway...the strung out contract stuff is to give sports media something to talk about. It's why it happens with every star in Dallas for quite a few years now.

You may be right but it’s not a smart plan. Always ends up costing more

My guess is it’s how much is guaranteed. That’s really all that matters because that’s all you are guaranteed to get. But most contracts of top players have about the same pct of the contract in guaranteed money.

Yep and that is the part that probably could still fluctuate as other guys sign first.

Weed smoker guy that went to denver.

He was playing good and at a high profile position. You can argue he was never a super star. But he was balling and left over contract stuff

Randy Gregory
Are you really calling Gregory a big time player?

I'm certainly not for trading Parsons, but the Cowboys just won a super bowl, and Emmitt was a big reason why.
That season he had after the holdout was probably the most impressive I can recall from a RB.

That team was 15-0 with him, and 0-4 without him.

Took the team on his back with a dislocated shoulder. They don’t win that game, things may very well have ended differently.

The exact opposite of someone else I can think of who fell out of shape while holding out, and had a type of season where he had to tap out when his team was about to run the ball on 4th and 2 with the division on the line.

Do you remember it was a 1pm game? We were 6.5 point favorites. I remember cursing the NFL and Dan Reeves. That would never be a 1pm game now. I forget where I had to be, but I was racing home. I had to listen to the first 10 minutes on the radio.

I blame Dan Reeves because he seems to turn any team into a contender. That game was one of my top 3 most important regular season games since I've been watching the Cowboys. Dallas had to win that game. Emmitt needed the bye week. He was probably still in pain 2 weeks later. The turf back then was terrible.

Unlike Zeke, Emmitt wasn't under contract. They just couldn't come to terms with what his new contract would be.
